The Official Aftermarket Wheels Thread

I need advice on lowering. I love the feel of the stock suspension and would only lower if i could keep the same feel or something VERY close. I did the dropped to the ground thing the cheap way with my previous car and will never go that route again. Any advice? I dont really know that much about the suspension for this car.

Has anyone noticed that wheels with a more positive offset make the wheelwell gap appear larger?

^^^ What he said. They'll be okay for a little while, but the rebound sucks so ride is terrible, and they could blow out after 6mo.s to a year.

Not 100% true IMO. Had ION sport spec for 18 months on stockers. Not "perfect" for stock KYB struts, but they did ok. And "blow" out really depends on mileage and roads driven on. Yes, firmer lower springs will wear out stock struts quicker, but it will not be over night.

Back to wheels....

HELP! I bent one of my rims and just found out they were aluminum racing wheels (at least that's what they tell me...) So far I know they're Rota, 18" 5x114.3, but I honestly have no idea what offset is or how I find out what the other 3 are, so I only have to replace the one.

Take a picture of them and post it here.

And if its on your legacy, it'd be a 5x100, not a 5x114. Also, if you look at the hub mounting face of the rim, it should tell you the offset (though it may be cryptic).

Yeah, AND Rota's got a replacement for me, but its quite pricey... All the same, at least they have it. The only other option I had was +35 so I sure hope its the 48.

Getting this tire off and back on would be an impossibility for me, aluminum or not, I only weigh 110 pounds...

So what IS offset anyways?

the back of the wheel ....... not the part under the tire.

you posted a pic of the load rating of the wheel.

rota wheels are less expensive than factory in most cases ....... should be less than $200.

offset:

I am a newer lgt owner. I wanted to throw some 18x8 inch wheels with a +40mm offset on my car. I noticed in an earlier post, a guy was running the same size wheels and the same size offset and the car sat awesome on tein h-tech springs. I believe the only problen the guy had was slight rub in the rear, fixable by slightly rolling the fenders. The question i had is if i run this Size, width, and offset, will i have wheel bearing issues? I read on NASIOC that if you go beyond a certain offset, you may have hub bearing issues in the long run. If there's some LGT guru out there that can help me with this question, as far as maximum offsets, wheel widths and diameters acceptable for LGT sedans I would be the most thankful person in the world! HELP!
