Jaspar21
My engine (phase 1 ej22) is making a loud ticking. Assuming it's the valves. Tickets quickens with higher revs. What is wrong and how do I remedy it. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Jaspar21
I was 3 quarts low on oil. Got her filled back up, but is there anything I can do to help her out? Couldn't of been good to run like that. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Moderators BarManBean Posted February 6, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2016 Did the noise go away? If so you might have avoiding spinning a bearing(s). If noise is still there you probably spun a bearing. "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock

mnstrmech
Hydraulic lash adjusters..... no harm done... mine does it every so often. And i have 307,000 miles..just keep the oil changed ..... and full lol. When ya get low on oil it it starves the lash adjusters. Not so much damage as noisey... Fallen4Futral
I had the same problem noise continued to get worse and worse. Then I was parking at walmart and turned in super sharp into a parking spot and the oil light turned on..... So checked the oil and nothing showed up on the dipstick.... so i did and oil change it was time anyway and now there is no ticking! lol then I turbo'ed the sucker... haha If you wanna read about the turbo build here's a write up. http://turbotimer.org/2016/01/24/so-you-want-to-turbo-an-ej22e/ Just like he said about the lash adjusters, They are awesome and self adjusting. They just need oil to adjust...
Smithcraft
They are also pricey if you get them from Subaru. There is a guy that refreshes them, for quite a bit less. I think he's on Subaru Legacy International. SC 1994 Legacy MI 2008 Legacy GT specB 2023 Crosstrek Limited
RumbleRumble
Always check your oil once a week and always before a long trip or lots of highway miles.
