60mph wobble

Recommended Posts

Question for you guys. So I have a wobble at 55-60mph. It doesnt happen under braking. I cant seem to pin point the issue. This is what I've done so far:

-Rotated tires

-put on another set of wheels

-replaced worn tie rod end

-Ball joints are good (2 months old)

-Driver side axle is a few months old

-Passenger side boots all good

-No play in wheel bearings

-Replaced all 4 slide pins in front brakes with new brackets and boots

What I noticed is the right front wheel is caked in brake dust and the left front is not. I just recently installed new C-Max pads as well. The car doesn't pull to one side under braking, but it looks like the caliper is hung up since I have so much more brake dust on that side. Could this be causing my wobble at 60? I'm installing twin piston calipers (which will warrant new rotors, pads and brackets) this weekend.

I would imagine it's a high possibility its the brake problem. Pad could be constantly touching rotor and causing a small vibration to translate up the steering componets. I had a bent steelie and didn't know it till I jacked the car off the ground and put it in drive at idle. Maybe check that before you put the new brakes on...

the only thing you did not mention are the inner tie rod .

i don't know much about them,

but i know they can go bed.

when you have the wheel up for the brakes,

see if there is any play in the tie rod relative to the rack.
