No one has tried it. I think there's a small chance you could swap the CD module from a 6CD into a 1CD radio, but nobody knows if that will work and You'd have to find someone willing to donate a 6CD module to try it...

Sadly, I don't believe that it's possible.

A friend of mine wired in a CD changer into his antenna. The sound quality is ok...not great, but acceptable.

Ok let me rephrase my question: How do i get a multi-CD interface installed in my car without changing the looks of the centre console. How much am i looking at in the worst case? (400? 600 bux?)

i would think http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29457 this would be our best bet... i love our center console system look and does not want to add an aftermarket unit and make our OEM console unoperable...

hopefully someone can post a walkthrough for what he had done....:icon_bigg

You guys are confusing two different issues. Those of us with 6CD radios have bigger problems. 1CD radios have tons of options.

Option 1: 1CD radios can simply be replaced using Metra's dash kit (which Crutchfield includes for free, along with the antenna adapter and wiring harness) with any 1DIN aftermarket radio you want.

Option 2: You could try swapping components from the 6CD radio into the 1CD radio. Not a very good chance that this will work, but no one has yet confirmed it doesn't.

Option 3: Get a cleansweep, aftermarket amps & speakers and set up an iPod or external CD changer on the amp. Very, very expensive, but will sound great and look stock.

Option 4: Mount a second radio in the cubby hole so you have two CD players. Get one that's either a 1DIN changer, or supports an external changer...or iPod or XM, or whatever.

Option 5: Get an external CD changer & use FM modulation. Doesn't sound very good, but it's easy and common.

If I had a 2.5i, I would have no problem deciding to go with Option 1, but it depends on what you want & how much money you want to spend.

i would go with an iPod and aftermarket replacement/cleansweep - you'll be glad you did.

i ran my factory 6 disc changer into the second aux input of my aftermarket stereo, and i think i might have used it once since then.

i have 27 gigs of music on the iPod and i'm almost out of room, so maybe i will be using the 6 disc changer afterall. :icon_bigg

Hey, for all you 2.5i guys with single CD players, the company that sold the cheap MP3 changer HUs appears to be selling a CD changer HU that fits the 2.5i.

Sorry if this is WTLW.

Has anyone with a 2.5i purchased one of these units yet? Is this really the 6-disk changer unit? I've had the part number looked up and it doesn't specify whether it's the changer or not.

Well, its up to you to decide whether this is actually a changer unit or not....but all the radios are plug and play. Hell, you could bolt in a unit with the auto climate control....the radio would work but of course the climate controls wouldn't!

Yeah, that's what I think too. I don't think just swapping the actual cd player portion of the radio will work either. The control logic just isn't the same. Now, maybe you could swap both the cd player unit and the radio board....that may work. The question is whether the connector for the control panel is the same.

Actually i'm thinking of ordering one, my stock CD player sometimes won't read my CD, most of the time when i insert a CD in there, it sounds like it's not position correctly and i have to stick another CD in to push the CD and then it'll play

I've told the dealer about it, but they never contact me back
