L is for Legacy.

7 is for the number of stars in the Pleadaies constellation (the english translation of Subaru is "seven sisters")

Funny that the actual Subaru badge has only 6 stars in it.... one large star for the larger parent company and 5 stars for the 5 smaller companies that joined up and formed Subaru (FHI).

oooh ok! Thanks! However, i though Pleadaies was 6 stars?

BAC5.2 is correct, Pleadaies has seven stars, Subaru fudged things a bit with their badge and only had six stars for the reason Gire mentioned. Is is entirely possible that the badge is ment to reference both that and to resemble an S, subaru has done that before, the 22b can be seen as a reference to the 2.2 engine as well as the fact that 22b in hexadecimal= 555, the tobacco brand that sponsored the SWRT in the early days.

All of you are wrong!

The 7 in the L7 badge is just an upside down L. In JDM land the Impreza has an "i" badge, the Forester has an "F" badge, and the legacy has the stylized "L" badge (L7). There's really nothing else to it. It's just L for Legacy. They tried to make a good looking badge with a single L on it, but were unsuccessful, then the graphic designer played with two L's and created our badge. /thread
