I feel like this is one of those noob type questions where people will answer by pointing out 5 different threads that answer my question. I've searched and I'll ask anyways. ;)

I am shopping for a DP and UP. Which should I buy? Should I be shopping on price only or is there some compelling reason to buy one (Cobb, Invidia, HKS, etc.) over another? I see catted DP's from ~$480-$580. I'd prefer to have the best rather than save $100 when it comes down to it. But if it's all the same I'll spend the $480. My LGT is an '05 MT w/ SPT intake and cat-back, BTW. Thanks.

UP diameter information, consolidated from various posts...

BoostJunkie says the stock UP ID is 1.875.

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=114435&postcount=3

Jeremy @ Crucial says 1.75:

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=250460&postcount=36

JDM-STI says 1.6":

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1216409&postcount=58

(If there were only two numbers, we could assume they were measuring different ends of the pipe, but it doesn't have three ends...)

More confirmation that the turbo inlet side is 1.75

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=276150&postcount=46

Bosal/STI is the same ID as stock:

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=732439&postcount=7

Invidia's UP is slightly larger than stock, Cobb's is (approx) same as stock:

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=605977&postcount=4

Jeremy @ Crucial says Crucial's is same as stock (and Cobb's, and Perrin's) and explains that bigger is usually not better:

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=373637&postcount=6

PDE's is larger than Crucial's:

Quick question... Is the shorty portion of the stock DP for a 5spd sedan and automatic wagon identical? In otherwords, will the stock shorty portion of the DP off of a LGT sedan (5 speed) fit an Automatic Wagon?

Sorry for reviving a over 2 year old thread but I have a question. I read someplace that the 07 Legacy 2.5GT up pipe is not catted? Is this true? Or would I be better off purchasing a STI Up Pipe cause those are catless. Thanx.

Can anyone answer this? I have a legacy GT 2.0 Si Drive 2007 model JDM. I want to change my exhaust. I'm thinking about the magnaflow system. Will the system advertised for the legacy 2.5l fit directly on my car Edited by vernon2200

For all the 3.0 guys out there, here's a list of all the part numbers for a 3.0R sedan factory exhaust from the intermediate pipe back. Since there is not a lot available for aftermarket exhaust for the 3.0, the factory system is one of few ways to go.

probably not the first to state this on lgt, but aparently the SPT catback that fits on the 08+ wrx sedan fits the 08 Legacy 3.0R nicely. we mock fitted it at work friday and are installing it wednesday. anxious to see how it sounds with the 3.0 NA
