TRSCobra
Lately, I've noticed quite a few people (my self included) looking for a CBE that's near-stock quiet, but would still flow well for upgraded turbos. Being that we're the LGT crowd and many of us like the sleeper aspect of these cars, I'm curious how many people would pay for a quality high-flow, yet quiet exhaust. I have no way to bring this idea to fruition, but if there are enough of us, maybe we can talk a manufacturer into producing these. Just a thought... BAC5.2
I've been working with TurboXS to bring out an LGT exhaust that will be fairly customizable. Hopefully within the next few weeks the prototype bits will be done and I can get some sound clips together. BAC5.2
I heard that there was going to be forged unicorn horns. I'm actually pretty excited about this exhaust. It should sound completely badass, and even better with ELH! SpecBGuy
quick question why do aftermarket exhaust make noise? is it done on purpose?
TRSCobra
Originally, I doubt. Buy that's the sole reason most people buy aftermarket exhausts... Typically, you have to sacrifice sound cancelling for flow, but with our two (or three!) muffler setups, i think you can have the best of both worlds. loc
I just put on a HKS exhaust and Cobb dp this morning, man it's loud. Thought these were supposed to be quiet.
TRSCobra
Is your setup so maxed-out that a spt or Borla would choke it? Going off youtube videos, they're still a bit loud for my tastes. Also, I don't particularly care for the 90* bends in the borla or the two-jammed-into-one Y-pipe on the SPT. A 304 stainless system with a 3" pipe to a straight through muffler into two 2.5" (or even 3") pipes with a good Y-pipe into two large-bore baffled mufflers would be ideal. scoobydoobie
My Bosal/SPT v.1.5 is very quiet. Only on WOT does it get somewhat loud, and even then its not too loud at all. And thats w/all the GrimmSpeed pre-turbo bits and a Cobb catted DP. Will be replacing it with a Stromung soon.. hoping I don't gain too much more noise.. Boy battin
Sounds like a great idea. I love the sound of my magnaflow, but it's too much for me and I have a kid on the way. Anyone with a stock sounding exhaust with high flow I'm in!
wpmarky
My stromung is almost stock quiet, after adding in some headers. With stock headers there was a slight drone. With GT Spec headers, the engine volume is the same as the exhaust volume (from the driver's seat).
gil_ong
i'd settle for the bit between the DP and the mufflers. is that what's called the y-pipe? something that'll mate up with a 3" DP and allow me to bolt up the stock mufflers.

I heard that there is a new exhaust that's coming out, where you can buy JUST the midpipe without mufflers, and it'll fit stock mufflers. GTLEGACY007
I run an ERZ catted DP and Megan Racing catback and I don't find it to be loud at all. Maybe it's because my previous two cars were Mustangs, lol. After I initially ordered the catback, while waiting for it to arrive, I started finding a bunch of reviews from people who said the Megan CBE isn't that great. I thought, uh oh, I bought some junk, but I love it. It fits like stock, isn't much louder, and I love the stock-looking quad-tip. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb223/0honegt/Legacy/subaru04.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb223/0honegt/Legacy/subaru25.jpg

scoobydoobie
I have the same exhaust Why the switch from the bosal 1.5 to stromung? Would you happen to know if the bosal has two-jammed-into-one Y-pipe like on the SPT? Wanted something a little louder and deeper sounding than the Bosal. Had a Stromung headerback on my 99 forester and loved it, so I jumped at the chance to get one for the LGT. No idea about the y-pipe, I doubt it though. The v.2 SPT is made by AEM, so I wouldn't think the designs would be too similar.
shadowsports
Very interested too! Put a Magnaflow CBE on last week. I was expecting loud, but it was more than I anticipated. I'm having a muffler installed in the mid on wednesday. At cruise its fine, but from a stop you can't talk to passengers too well, unless you let up on the pedal. I like the way WOT on this exhaust sounds. I like its sound in general, and the note at the back of the car (outside) is great. Inside however, a no go. I didn't go with Borla because of the 90* bends (mentioned here earlier). The Magnaflow is a good fit for our cars. No fitment issues at all. Its just too loud on its own. I saw the Stromung GB being offerd by m sprank, but I don't care for dual tips, I prefer a single rolled tip on our cars. Matter of preference I guess.
