Lafta
Any of you guys using one of these? You know, to attract any metal shavings? I heard something about a magnectic thing a ma jig that attaches to the outside of the pan for the same job. Any news? TIA.
lepich
I have one.. Paid about..$13, if I remember correctly. It is clean every time, I think it might be too late if you'll see metal shavings on it. This is not a trany... There are no bad people, just differeent. carrata
I stick a rare-earth magnet to my oil filter, since I use the futmoto oil valve.... Just swap it over to the new filter once it's installed!
subleg05gt
My mechanic put one of those magnets in my oil filter too. Wont know if anything is in there till the next oil change
ehsnils
It's the kind of device that won't hurt the engine to have and it can also bring peace to mind when you figure out that it's nothing or very little on it.
Leonardo
But I thought the OEM one had a slight magnet on it as well as the one on the rear diff.
ebpda9
isn't most stuff in the engine aluminum? that magnet won't do you any good anyway
ehsnils
Most stuff is alu, but there are items that are steel/steel - like camshaft mechanics. I'm not sure about the cylinder bores - if they have a steel sleeve or if the bore is directly into the aluminum. Just because an engine has a block and heads out of aluminum doesn't mean that the moving surfaces that you have are aluminum in direct contact. Mr. Sinister
http://www.filtermag.com/ One of the better designs IMO.
