TbirdMan
OK, this morning my car has started to make a squeaking noise from my left front wheel. I have looked and there is nothing rubbing, is this a wheel bearing? That is the only thing I can think it could be. Any other ideas? It is a rhythmic squeak at low speeds and a squeal at high speed. 98LGTLover
Could be a wheel bearing. When you have a bad wheel bearing it roars as you go down the road. I just had my left front one done a couple weeks ago.
TbirdMan
See, that's just it, it doesn't make any noise going stright, only in turns. I put it up on a jack and I could feel no movement in the bearing. My only other thought was maybe the brakes, but they look OK except for the grooves where the "crossdrilled" holes are, and those have been there since I bought the car. I recorded the noise and will try to upload it.
Reckoner
It could be ur half shaft bearings getting wore out that would make the sound going around corners
TbirdMan
This axle was replaced not long ago, or do you mean the diff output bearings?

TbirdMan
Well based on the lack of slop in the wheel and the fact that the wheel can't actually fall off from a bearing going out, I think I can drive it for a bit longer at least till the weekend. 98LGTLover
When my wheel bearing was first going out it just did high pitched squeaking noises. I could here it more when I was going through a bunch of parked cars and the noise would bounce off the cars. As it got worse the squeaking sort of went away and the roaring noises really set in. TbirdMan
The sound doesn't change under braking, and it isn't fender rub.
TbirdMan
hmm, sound randomly went away, so either it got better...or worse.
