215/45/17 or 225/45/17 on 8" rim -- All Season

I know there are a lot of threads like this, but wanted a few opinions on this. Usually I get a set of summer performance tires but money's tight so I need to just get an ultra performance all season :-(

I have 17x8 rims. Would you go 215/45/17 or 225/45/17? Some pot holes but not that bad. I figure 225 might be a little wider, stiffer sidewall (load rating) but also thicker sidewall (not that great for perf).

I'd love to go with 235/40/17 but very hard to find in all season.

Thanks.

I just put on some Continental DWS's 225/45's on a 8 inch rim and am very happy with it. Rides very nice and handles well. This is my second set of DWS's and for 700 brand new from discount/american tire with lifetime free replacement, cant complain to much.

It does have a very slight stretch to it. I can get a better picture of that if you want it.
