98 Legacy wagon, shifter/directional issues

So I bought a '98 Subaru Legacy wagon this past summer and just ran into my first issue last night. The car will not shift out of park unless using the shift lock override button. Additionally, the directionals do not work whatsoever (yet the hazard lights are fully functional). Both of these problems came on at the same time, leading me to think that they're connected.

Additionally, the rear lights are out, though this happened a few days before the other two problems. The brake lights however are fully functional.

I've done a bit of research and stumbled upon a common problem with the shift lock solenoid. This would appear to explain the shift lock problem, but could it impact the directionals as well? Occam's law would make the chance of coincidence unlikely, but I'd love some input if possible.
