I'm probably going to use DEI's Titanium wrap. It looks really durable, and doesn't require wetting and baking.

I would never try to wrap the pipe on the car.

Thank guys ,and especially LALGT for all the info. Will be happy to buy the stuff from infamous performance.

I'll be reading through the links. It would suck million balls to take the pipes off the car though...

You only say that because you have not tried to wrap pipes in car. If you are THAT stressed, instead of wrapping the up do the turbo blanket and DP. The DP is much easier to remove and I am 99% sure the blanket can go on without any removal just a lot of tugging.

I've got my FMIC hotside piping done with that stuff and it's WAY easier to work with than the regular wrap I used on my camaro's headers. I never got fiberglass rash from it, either!

I used DEI to do most of my DP (catless). I used 100' of the 1" wrap. Rather than use their wrap ties, I used a few regular 3" worm clamps. I then let it dry (baked in sun) and coated the whole thing with the 2000 degree black paint.

Not really. He installed 1" wrap not 2";). (Even if he did wrap more stuff thats a LOT of overlapping)

FWIW, if I were crazy enough to try to wrap properly ON car, I would definately try the titanium just to avoid the horiffic fiberglass rash that is certain to come from rubbing the wrap all around, otherwise, I'm happy.

That's rubbish. I'll use the 2" Ti stuff. It also has a benefit of not getting dried out and looking like utter rubbish.

You'd probably be BEST doing both.

But in reality, it doesn't matter much.

Depends on how much they charge.

Some "coatings" are rubbish. Some, like Jet Hot, are worth money.

Definitely easier to wrap the pipes off the car. I wrapped everything and coated it before installing. I used Thermo Tec wrapping. I think DEI may have a little better product. I also believe it would have been easier as a two person job on the downpipe. The most important thing is to take your time and do it right.

Also, the Hight temp coating will not last forever, I have learned. Mine need a re-spray/re-wrap after just two years.

Here is a pic of "before"
