DIY: Fogs On W/ Parking Lights

Tools needed:

• 10mm Socket
  
• Wire Clippers
  
• Quick Wire Connectors or soldering gun
  

Difficulty: 3/10

 

• This guide shows you how to wire your fogs to run whenever your parking lights do, as far as i know this is an illegal mod in all states so do this at your own risk.
  

Walkthrough:

 

Step One:

• Trace the wires from your fog lights back around 6" and cut them so you have a good amount of wire to work with. Strip the ends of the wire about .3" you can now pull or hide the wiring from your OEM switch as you will not be needing it afterwards.
  
  

Step Two:

• Unbolt the three 10mm bolts securing the headlight to the radiator support

Step Three:

• Pull out the headlight at an angle, be careful not to pull to hard, as the the rod near the turn sigle is somewhat delicate

Step Four:

 

• Rotate the turn signal counter clockwise to disengage from the headlight and let the bulb hang over your bumper

Step Five:

 

• Run a length of wire from the turn signal bulb to the wires you stripped from the fogs. connect the wires and thread them through to your signals

Step Six:

 

• Using your quick connectors, tap into the parking signal wires like this: (blue connectors in the picture)
  

Driver's Side:

fog wire purple tapped into parking light red

fog wire black tapped into parking light black

Pass. Side:

fog wire green to parking light red

fog wire black to parking light black

Step Seven:

 

 

• Test, clean up the wires, reassemble and enjoy

now does this keep the foglighght working with the lows and hi beams as well. And does it also keep the other independent fog light DIY working as well..

I think if I'm right. As long as the parkin lights are on. They will stay on.

yes, as long as the parking lights are on, the fogs will be on, that includes when you trip the switch atop the steering wheel with the keys completely out

I don't think it's that illegal, just as long as you don't think your fog lights equal as head-lights. Cops around here will nail you every time. So don't use just your fog lights at night. Plus I have fog lights on my truck that are wired to be a constant hot. I just have to remember to turn them off.

 

I would imagine this mod would keep the fog lights on even when the hi-beams are on, as the parking lights do not turn off when you turn on the hi beams. Factory, the fog lights turn off with the hi-beams because the low beams turn off when the hi-beams are turned on and the fogs are wired with the low beams

good diy i did this a whille ago and now wired up my jdm side markers to to them too

id love to do this just so my fogs would stay on with my high beams. when i hold the switch in the middle and both are on its so much brighter. its great this is such a simple diy thanks for posting.

You can. Just tap the high beam wire instead of the parking light wire.

^ i vampire clipped the driver's side lowbeam and ran it over to power the pass side projector and i never had a single problem but im not too sure, guess i could try it here in a week or so when my 3000k's get here

Anybody do this mod and keep blowing fuses? Initially I thought it was the 100w bulbs I put in but I put the 55w bulbs back in and it blew the fuse again. Could it be that the fogs are not grounded with the side markers, but instead grounded independently?

why coulldnt you splice the parking light wires to the fog light switch? then you can have the fogs on with parking lights on but still have the ability to turn them off

the fogs may be too much draw for the parking light circuit. use the parking light circuit to trigger a relay to power the fogs, that way they arent overloading that parking light circuit.

I want to order h.i.ds. for the jdm fogs can someone tell me the size I know one of them is H3 just not sure which one. Like the projector and the regular bulb
