STiSubie109
So yeah.....stupid me hit the wrong garage door opener and had the one go down on my open hatch, a nice big gouge in the rear hatch door all the way down to the metal. Anyone know how much it'll cost to fix or would I have to respray the whole hatch? I was hoping in the 2-3 hundred range. Anyone know any good body shops in the fairfield ct area? I am worried about rust forming etc...more than anything. Help!!

hogmeat
I'm always worried I'll do that too. It scares me. I'm pleasantly surprised... It was most certainly worth the couple bucks and 10 mins of my time. CLICK HERE FOR THE HOGZAUST
dtmenace
any damage besides paint, Ultimate CC has a good rep and has done some work for me as well... if you go that route, please tell them I sent you
STiSubie109
I've gone to Ultimate and they do great work! But they are to far outta the way for just a trunk respray. I just got a quote today...for 500 respray. Pretty much the door made a 5 inche vertical gash through the clear coat and paint down to the metal. hogmeat
Why not invest in a better opener that uses a laser to stop the door (so if something crosses the path? I'm pleasantly surprised... mccorry
^^^^^^^^^^ To the OP..... sorry to hear it. My garage doors have sensor eyes that won't let the door close if there is something in the beam.
imstillatwork
A lot of installers put the beam too low, and it goes under the car... ours was like 3 inches off the ground when we bought the house.

mwiener2
the laser is there to stop it from squishing children, not cars. I once backed out of the garage with the hatch open, that was an oopsie. I don't give a crap what it is... bumper, fender, door, kid, etc. If something is in the way of the door tracks... it won't come down.
