urdrwho
My 95 2.2 has really turned into a high idler at first start when cold. I know that cars need an enrichment and I am accustomed to a bit of it. But I can barely keep the brakes on hard enough in drive at idle to keep the car from jetting out into the road. No CEL and after a short bit of time it runs as expected. Any ideas?
zangado1
Bet you it is the Automatic Idle Control Valve. Here is a video: If that doesn't fix the issue go to the junk yard and buy a used Mass Air Flow Sensor. Made my car feel like it was new again during acceleration and idle. $
braaap
Mine used to idle at 3,500rpms when it was -20f and colder. No engine lights, but figured I'd clean my MAF. Spent $8 on a can of MAF cleaner, not expecting much to change. Works great, more power also. Took less than 5 minutes to do.
urdrwho
Two votes for the MAF. I have MAF cleaner and I also have an extra MAF laying around. We are getting snow / ice today so i can't check out the MAF. I was going to guess sticky IAC but MAF can do some strange stuff. When it is in the teens and there isn't' much air density maybe the MAF isn't up to speed to correctly monitor Snow and ice again... Edit --- Just read it again and it is one vote for MAF and one for ICV.
