K2e2vin
Does anyone know of any dual oil pressure gauges besides Hewitt(http://www.hewittindustries.com/pressure_gauges_oil_dual.html )? I have a Canton bypass-less oil filter that's been sitting around for a while and thinking of running that plus a accumulator; basically need a gauge the read pre and post oil filter pressure. ras06LGT
I'm not familiar with these. What's the benefit?
K2e2vin
Since the oil filter does not have a bypass, the only way you know it's time to change it is by recording and comparing the oil pressure readings (time to change when it's 4-5psi lower than when you first installed it). Regular spin-ons have a bypass built-in so they'd just allow dirty oil to keep flowing around the filter element, while a filter like the CM would just restrict oil flow(very bad). With a dual gauge like that, pre-filter and one post-filter readings would just need to be 4-5psi apart to indicate when the filter needs to be changed....so no need to record and keep track of the actual numbers; just need to pay attention to how far apart the needles are from each other. I'm just looking for a gauge that looks closer to the stock gauges(clean look). If you're asking about the benefit of the Canton filter in general, it's a larger filter and filters smaller particles out than most off-the-shelf spin-ons. Also, the lack of a built-in bypass means that all oil is constantly filtered.
Silinc3r
Don't know about the gauge you're looking for but I've always toyed with the idea of a dual sender gauge. Put a double throw switch connected to 2 senders than when you want one reading flick up and the other flick down.
