saywhuut
Ive got the non turbo 2006 legacy. Turns out my rack and pinion is leaking from the left boot and causing bad burning smell after car runs a while. I have 210k miles on the car and want to keep it going till it dies. Has anyone ever replaced this part by themselves? I was quoted $500 to have a shop do it. Is this normal wear and tear for one of these to fail around this time? JmP6889928
Let's see....210K miles....rack decides to leak....must be Subaru using really cheap crap for rack and pinions. Cmon.....moving parts wear out eventually. Over 200K seems to me like you got your money's worth although I just put a fuel pump in my 2000 Dodge Caravan AWD at 310K-OE pump failed...LOL. Cheap Chrysler crap...
