djorge Posted June 30, 2010 Share Posted June 30, 2010 I am rebuilding an old/98 OBK to forged parts all over and turbo but, for the moment, prefered to keep the 4EAT trans until its blown, so wandering if a steering wheel w/ shifter buttons (05 LGT) would be feasible to adapt to my old car - if not, would my otehr 05 4EAT be an option or should I use those buttons for stereo and that is it? fishbone Posted June 30, 2010 Share Posted June 30, 2010 If the transmission does not have manual mode, then it's going to be a bitch and a half to get something like that to work. You'll need a manual shift controller. If it does have manual control then arguably it should be an easy scenario of wiring it up. Either way you are not doing it any favors shifting manually, let it do it's thing and if you really want to help prolong it's life, then why don't you take that fund and invest it in a shift kit/modified valve body to firm up the shifts and make them quicker.
