m sprank
Working up the adds now. Was not going to... but a few manufacturers came through with great offers. Looks like I will have all Cobb products on sale for at least 10% off. Plus DW is going to allow a free DW65c with fuel injector purchase.
Brock Samson
Installed mine last night. Really high quality looking stuff, install is easy. Lay out all my parts first, I took out my airbox and hose to get to the supply line. Be prepared to grab a couple odd wrenches from your toolbox (I think the hose fitting is SAE?) and before you know it, you're done. I tightened it all up, but couldn't fine a torque spec on the banjo bolts...
pilot378
Mike, just to be clear, in your opinion, is it worth upgrading to this oil supply kit with the OEM turbo? It seems that if you have to use the OEM banjo bolt, it will be just as restrictive as with the OEM supply lines, but I don't know for sure, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks! m sprank
It is overkill with an OEM turbo. Dont want more flow to an OEM turbo, just want clean oil. It will supply clean oil and is easier to service than a screened banjo bolt. But, admittedly overkill. Torque for banjo bolts should be approx 14ftlbs. pilot378
That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the honest info!
subiefool
just curiouse with this filter system does it eliminate the need for any of the banjo bolt filters or just the one to the turbo?
m sprank
Your LGT has 2. One on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger. This kit does not eliminate any. But you can eliminate the passenger side if you choose to (with or without the kit). You can remove the drivers side too, but easiest way is to remove the cam gears and rear timing cover. So it is a lot of work. Subaru has used filtered banjos for many years. Some cars had 4 of them. The oil needs to be filtered somehow. Problem is serviceability of banjo bolt filters (and location of bolts).
subiefool
i pulled the bolts at the front of the moter last night and fould no filters it was too late to get to the one to the turbo now im worried it cold be more than just a blown turbo thats wrong with my car
subiefool
she idles fine and i can run all the way to redline when not under load without any knocks, missfires or sputtering what els could it be?
m sprank
Bolts at front of motor have no filters. Bolt at back of block between motor and up pipe is the passenger side filter. Drivers side is behind the timing cover. You can see it following the piping from the AVCS looking down the front of the motor. As to your issues, open a new thread you have not even explained what the situation yet.
WYO_LGT05
i just purchased a 20g upgrade from bnrsupercars.com should i look into getting these lines upgraded aswell?? thanks!! any input welcome im dumb when it comes to cars
jasejase
^ they are a great set of lines... Bnr (last i checked) asks that you replace the lines with a filtered set. This would be a great option.
HDTurbo
I am having more machined now. Once they are in hand, I will have "extras" for those needing parts. Mike - Are spare filters available? Thanks!
m sprank
I can sell you a spare.
Claw
Your LGT has 2. One on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger. This kit does not eliminate any. But you can eliminate the passenger side if you choose to (with or without the kit). You can remove the drivers side too, but easiest way is to remove the cam gears and rear timing cover. So it is a lot of work. Subaru has used filtered banjos for many years. Some cars had 4 of them. The oil needs to be filtered somehow. Problem is serviceability of banjo bolt filters (and location of bolts). So Mike, if I'm understanding this right, I can put this in ahead of all the banjo bolts and your filtration unit will catch any garbage before it hits the banjos, correct? At 80k kms (~50k miles), I'm starting to look for precautions that might spell an early death for my beloved LGT. Thanks.
m sprank
You can remove the filter in the banjo bolt on the passenger side and the kit will still filter the oil going to the turbo. Plus eliminate the possibility of a clogged filter starving oil to the OCV's and cams (on the passenger side). The kit does nothing for the drivers side OCV filtered banjo bolt.
