i was about to order the board and GLI from the website. Wanted to make sure I understood the patch cords needed if I didn't want to use a splitter/adapter.

ipod-like device -> mini-stereo plug (male) to rca (female) patch cord -> GLI -> rca (female) to mini-stereo plug (male) patch cord -> jazzy board.

is that right?

Hey Nate!

Thanks a bunch for everything up to this point.

Its a pity because I didn't see that you got a new combo which features the audio wire for $55. If I known I would have bought that instead of the standard $45 basic.

I recieved the item awhile back(thank you for the fast shipping). The installation was an absolute breeze, even for a dim-witted individual like myself. The instruction was helpful but made it look lot difficult than it actually is.

At first when I downloaded your PDF file from Legacygt.com I was a bit freightened, which is what's been keeping me from buying your kit. Now that I've got it and installed, I am ever so happy and grateful.

You are performing a public service.

If I would have known the result I was getting, I would honestly pay up to $150 for this bad boy. I know you are not in this for profit, but the small size, the package, and the ease of installation is amazing! The sound quality is something I've been seeking for for years! I went through 4 FM transmitter and 1 FM modulators before I decided to use your kit. Over the years I've spend hundreds of dollars trying to get acceptable sound quality and I am beyond ecstatic that my search is at its end.

No more static, no more low volumes, no more hums or buzz or fizz, just pure F-ing clear music!

Thank you so much, I'm sure fellow Leggy owners feels the same way I do.

I bought my board months ago but never got around to installing.. but now that I have Sirius up and running, I really need to get this installed pronto.

Id like to buy the rest of the wiring from your site.. drewsters chain looks about right for my needs also.. is there a package we can order, or do we just add each piece manually?

Uh...I may have my RCA male/female terms mismatched, but that's not quite-> the GLI's corded leads, what I think are male plugs, are the input, and the other side (output) are female jacks, so you need an adapter:

Audio device -> (optional) 6' mini-stereo extension cable -> mini-stereo to RCA adapter plug -> GLI -> 6' RCA to mini-stereo cable -> jazzy board

The extension cable is optional because if you're using something that locates your line out jack in the cubby or out of the way (like this), you can plug the mini-stereo to RCA adapter plug directly into that, but if you want a smaller cleaner cable to route somewhere around your dash, the extension cable will allow you to hide the adapter plug inside the dash (or under the console).

Installed mine with single CD in my 06 OB 2.5i and am thrilled with the audio results. Thank you jazzy.

Ran into an issue with the manual AC controls though upon reinstall. My temperature control (the famous light blue cable) has become uncalibrated and now I have to pull out the HU to try and adjust it back to normal.

Figures that it would become offset to the COLD side in the middle of winter! :icon_bigg Set on full heat, my temp is significantly cooler than prior to the install.

I'll post if I figure out a good way to get it back to normal.

Is there a reason this thread has never been made a sticky thread? The most viewed and replied thread in the Interior/Audio section.
It's getting pretty huge. The stickied "Official (color) legacy photo" threads and the "thread that never ends" in off-topic are bigger, so it's the biggest, on-topic, non-stickied thread on the forum :)

Still, to sticky this thread would be a sort of endorsement for a product by Tide or the site moderators...something that's not only unnecessary, but probably unfair. I don't have a company or anything (yet anyway), but stickying this would be like stickying a vendor's thread...well...I guess there is one or two on the Accessport actually, but I don't consider this hack nearly up to the level of engineering and quality that the Accessport brings to the Subaru community. To compare it with a more related product, I think the same goes with JL's cleansweep...and stickying this and not that thread would be weird at best. That's my opinion anyway.

Besides, I think the 700 posts and 35,000 views by members is endorsement enough ;) It's managed to stay in the first page pretty consistently for the last 4 months or so with your help anyway. Thanks for the support and continuing good reviews everyone.

As a minor update, I finally purchased a bench radio and it will be in my hands soon. I've also talked my way into a transfer inside my company and will be getting formal training on electronics and PLC's in the future which might change the course of things to come.

Hey Subbie,

I am so sorry that I am an big idiot and that I don't have enough time like you to read through 47 pages like you do.

 Hey kikkoman114. Not sure I understand your post, or mine for that matter after re-reading it. In any case, no offense, just stating that whatever problem I come across that I'm sure I can find a post that discusses the issue. Just glad to see so many folks successfully took the plunge...

I updated the first post to include the "Pro" kit I was planning to add earlier since people seem reluctant to use the website. I'll probably leave those up indefinitely now, but the website does work if you want a different combination of options than those listed there.

Also, if any of you feel like posting reviews of the board on there, go right ahead. I know most everyone's comments have been lost in this 47 page thread now and it wouldn't hurt to have them reposted where someone can find them. :D

How about a "pro kit" package but without the board. I bought the board awhile ago and would just need the wires & GLI filter. I know you can add the parts manually.. just trying to be lazy here. :)
Um, just buy a standard kit and put in the order notes that you want the pro kits parts w/o the board (same price).

If anyone really doesn't want to use the website that I worked so hard to create, but wants a custom order, just PM me what you want with your email address and I'll send you a paypal invoice.

FWIW, the website isn't sitting unprotected on a home server or anything, it's professionally hosted at an ISP with good firewalls, secure databases and that whole bit. I didn't bother with SSL because no monitary information is transmitted thru my site, it's all through paypal's secure servers, but I suppose I could get one if that would ease tensions about using it...

Thanks also for all the white tater tots.
You had me really confused for a second there :) Yea, my dogs love eating those when I'm not looking too. They're a bit bland for my taste.

And thanks for being the site guinie pig...glad you got what you ordered ;)

i'll apologize in advance if this is covered in one of the previous 24 pages of this thread.... For the GLI with the RCA plugs, referring to the 2 brown wires, "Connect the brown wires to ground only if there is no sound out of the amplifier. Connect them both to the source chassis case."

In your or anyone else's experience, do we need to use the brown wires? This will probably help me determine where to place the GLI and also what patchcords and lengths to use.

No, you don't need to connect them to anything. PAC provides them because old studio audio equipment needed a reference ground or it would freak out. You can just tape them up or cut them off.

Hrm...I just realized I somehow forgot to mention this, but orders over $75 on my website also get free shipping. So, you save $5.

I've also reconsidered the price for the RCA GLI. I know it's not the ideal setup since it's not 3.5mm, so I lowered it to $15. Still free shipping over $75...for now ;) Pro-kit price is now $80 shipped.
