milesej05
Going stage II and have almost all the parts for the Downpipe install. My question is do the people who have gone stage II put the heat shield back onto the aftermarket Downpipe? All the instructions I have read said to reinstall it. Input? browningr6
I didn't but am looking for an aftermarket right now. It gets really hot in there!
jbrown
I did't put mine back on either but it was winter time... When summer came I put a cobb heatshield on extremely easy, heard grimmspeed may be a little more effective but my cobb does work very well. jfg22557
Just heat wrap it. Not really necessary to reinstall the oem or buy an aftermarket heatshield IMHO. Although I can see the benefit when at stg 2 with a TMIC and heatsoak issues to consider
Heedz
you have to modify the stock one if you want it back on. heatshield does make a big difference unless heatwrapped. also for LEOs less noticable that the dp is swapped.

CapnJack
I have not had one on mine since I installed my DP two years ago and haven't had any problems, but after reading this, I might reconsider.
Adoniram
I wrapped the entire DP in exhaust wrap (along with the headers and UP). For the turbo, I bought a PTP Turbo Blanket. Under-hood temps have never gotten too high, engine has never over-heated. (and it was over 100-110 degrees here in TX for something like 50 days this summer) I highly recommend SOME kind of heat shield, whether wrap or modified shielding.
