Twyzted
I have a 95 Legacy L sedan. At some point in history before I bought the car, the stock 2.2 was swapped for a 2.5. Other than being an EJ25, I have no idea what this engine is. Is there an easy way to ID the year of engine? I plan to rebuild my top end soon and would like to have a model year to ensure I buy the correct parts the first time around. Last weekend, I replaced the original trans (I assume original) with a 4EAT from a 97 LGT (also rear suspension assembly including rear diff). Not knowing what engine I had ended up costing me several hours of labor (flexplate was different diameter). I would like to avoid problems like this in the future. johnegg
how many cams? 4 cams (2 each side) = 96 - 99 2 cams = 00-04 but trying to tell 96 form 97 or 98 may be a challenge. you can try looking for a vin# on the bell housing passenger side fairly low. the 10th or 11th position in the vin will be a letter. each year has a different letter.
