Leptronix Aux-In

Hi all!

That was gonna have to happen, I had to increase the price because of the exchange rates between CAN$ and USD$. The price is now 115$ shipping included.

I can combine shipping for multiples items to lower the cost.

I still have some units in stock, but in limited qty.

Thank you everyone!

Single CD Install

Hi All,

Just popping in from the subaruoutback.org group to say thanks. Did the install and it works really great. The instruction were really clear and straight forward. I am using this for my Sirius sportster 5.

I went all out and did the install right . First I insalled the ant. into the rear spoiler using the post from this forum http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/satellite-antenna-18537p2.html?t=18537&pp=10&page=2

I would like to add that the side trim on the lift gate came off real easy with the use of a rear brake adjuster tool. The one used to tighten/release the star wheel. Cover with tape and you can get right at the clip.

I then fished all wires into the cubby and used this replacement tray to affix the suction mount for the sportster. Got this from an OB member heres the thread and his site. Looks really good the new plates are black.

Thanks... I now have clear commercial free music

just one very dumb question, how can we connet the MP3 to the head unit? I can't find any actual pic in the manual and don't know where to put the audio connector.

This is essentially what I did:

This is a picture very similar to the manual. I hot glued the audio cable just to make sure it wouldn't vibrate out.

The other end of that audio cable was routed to the center console storage area:

Just for completeness I mounted the switch in the center storage area as well:

Also picked up a dock connector to audio and usb cable to both listen to and charge my ipod:

The cable was just to make it look nicer while driving:

That's nice. I can't decide which one should i choose, the aftermarket car receiver or this. Still doing researching:redface:

Iphone question.

The Aux in works great playing music from "Ipod" and streaming music apps.

Iphone will play phonecall through headphones

Combine those two thoughts and it does not seem to play phonecalls through the Aux in & car speakers? (yes I realize the microphone would still be the phone itself)

Received my Leptronix aux-in and was able to complete the installation last weekend. The instructions were excellent and the install was very easy. This was my first attempt at soldering anything pcb related. I did some practice runs on an old 56K modem I had laying around - figured I probably wouldn't use that again. The trick is to keep a steady hand and use small amounts of solder at a time. You don't really need much. If you can wiggle the wire and it stays attached, you are all set. I put the jack in the armrest cubby. The switch was installed in the hole for the cig lighter per a suggestion ealier in this thread. The lighter is easy to dissamble. The lighter sheath is resting on a white adapter circle. I painted this black and glued the switch into this. I then used a couple drops of glue to secure the switch/adapter assembly to the ligter hole in the ashtray. It is nice and hidden and easy to access.

The sound quality of the unit is excellent. It is very user friendly and switches over instantly. Worth every penny. I haven't been able to use the mp3 player for 3 months. I forgot how nice it is to have one in the car.

Thanks Sebastian for a high quality, well built, fairly priced unit.

has anyone installed this unit without the on/off/auto toggle switch?

the only purpose of this switch is to switch off the unit if i would want to listen to the radio/cd without actually unplugging the unit, right?

I have a friend interested in ordering one. She's really impressed with the ingenuity behind it and saw the clean install in my Subie. I hope you will be making enough units, Sebastien!

Man!! I got to hurry-up! :)

The unit can be installed without the remote switch, but it's a nice to have feature. When not installed, the unit will be on "auto" all the time.

"auto" meaning that i would need to unplug the mp3/ipod to use the radio/cd changer?

No. When you stop the music from playing the board will kick back to radio functions in approximately 30 seconds.

if you have music with long pauses, or is quiet, the auto function can be a little tricky. i have lots of live music on my ipod so when there is a break between songs and it is quiet for some time, it will occasionally switch back to the radio. but, i just leave it in the "on" position all the time.

FINALLY! I had some time to finish building the boards. So I have units in stock right now ready to ship! Please use the link on my webpage for ordering, thanks!

Also, one reminder, if you are not located in the US (aka in Canada), please contact me BEFORE ordering, since shipping charges are different.
