http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/tweekshook/subaru.jpgDon't mind the green hood. Salvage car - of everything replaced someone missed the hood latch. Hood flew up into the windscreen at 75MPH.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/tweekshook/shithood.jpgGood thing I bought this cause my green one has a shot transmission. Therefore a bit of a parts car ATM :phttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/tweekshook/othercar.jpg

Here's my Rio red 5spd wagon. Was told by the previous owner that they're pretty rare, and so far it seems like it! have only seen some sedans in the same color. Would really like to pick up a spec b? bumper and grill, and a baja or aluminum hood would be awesome, just don't know where to really find them without shipping from japan!

Hey. Cheers chillij.

Well I'm not really sure but here in japan they are well cheap (if you hunt around a little). I organized and bargained the one pictured above with absolutely no help. I wonder if it would be worth looking into getting one shipped to the US? Of course it would be right hand drive though.

japan-partner.com is one. i havent bought anything from them so i dont no all it takes. heres something off there site about performance cars.

Importing used JDM High Performance Vehicles (and other used vehicles) into the USA is difficult, but not impossible.

Any vehicles being imported to the USA needs to have been certified to comply with US safety and environmental standards, i.e. they need to have a DOT and an EPA mark.

Unfortunately almost all vehicles sold outside the USA do not have such marks.

They can however nevertheless be imported with the help of a Registered Importer, who can bring them into compliance with US regulations.

You can find a comprehensive list of Registered Importers following this web address: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CARS/RULES/IMPORT/web_complete_RI_list5108.pdf

Going through an RI can be very expensive though.

A cheaper alternative may be to dismantle the vehicle you want and ship it by container to the US.

This is not an infringement of US laws as long as the vehicle will not be reassembled in the US. Most JDAM high performance cars in the US have been brought into the country this way.

Furthermore, there are two categories of vehicles that can be imported to the US relatively easily:

Mini Trucks (http://www.japan-partner.com/kei-truck.html) and RHD Jeep Cherokees.
