what is this (motor part)

Recommended Posts

in the market for an 05 LGT. Found a real nice one with about 80k on it for 12,4k. Royal Blue, looks pretty well maintained from the pics i've seen from it. I was checkin out the pictures of the motor, trying to find out what all was changed. I noticed the intake filter was changed so the intake box and air shroud that connects to the box is missing. Should that be something to worry about?

Other then that, I do not see the following part on the pictures i've been referencing. Just wondering what it is, and why it would be missing?

I believe it's the emissions air pump and it came on newer years.

so this picture of the white car could be of a newer year then? Just wanna make sure nothing fishy is going on under the hood :-p

yea u can tell the white one is 08-09 compared to the blue one, is an 05 because of the dark headlights (unless someone painted it).

so new to subarus http://smiliesftw.com/x/redface.gif been a honda guy my whole life. Do they look painted? and does that look like aftermarket tint on the windows?

The headlights were cleared. Took out the orange reflectors. Just be sure there is no moisture in the headlights when looking at them. If the tint is dark, it is not factory. I do not think those are the 05 rims either, but that does not really matter. Tires look pretty new. I would ask about oil change intervals. If it was done every 5K, I would be hesitant to buy. Do a search for banjo bolt and enjoy the reading.

Judging from the mods, I would think that car used to belong to someone that was either a member of this forum or read it a lot. Cleared heads, painted grille, swapped wheels, sound like something the average person wouldn't do without doing a little reading first. Maybe post in your local forum on here or check out NASIOC.com and find your local area and ask if someone recently traded in an LGT.
It's cool; I'm with the band

I would check the VIN to see if it was subject to the recall on some of the Later year cars.

My car was JUST before this one. I would be a little worried to get an engine that might be part of this.

If the engine was not changed then the VIN should tell you everything you would want to know about what engine the car has.
