MrTris
When was the last time you changed your oil?
Heticor
The oil was replaced 1,682 Km ago (1,052 Mi), I use Castrol SyntecEedge, and Subaru filter. the car runs well, does not use any oil between changes.
Industry
I would pull the ocv, clean it and reset the code. See if that takes care of it.
Heticor
could you tell me what side is the bank 2, and what is the best cleaner for this valve
MrTris
could you tell me what side is the bank 2, and what is the best cleaner for this valve Pull 'em both, douse liberally with Brakekleen then reinstall.
Lafta
Is this a job anyone can do? If yes, is there a how to link, please?
MrTris
Is this a job anyone can do? If yes, is there a how to link, please? Yeah, anyone can do this! The OCVs are the two little deals on the outermost edges at the top of each valve cover. Grab a ten and start unbolting them from their brackets. Yes, you'll need to pull kinda hard on 'em, don't be a pussy. Pull straight out, soak in Brakekleen, air dry, then coat liberally in WD40. Installation is reverse of removal. There's no trick to these, they're super easy. Have confidence in yourself!
bigBADbenny
Actuate the ocv's with a 9v battery whilst cleaning them. Mark what side each ocv came from and swap sides on reinstall to be sure. If cleaning doesn't work, replace one or both with new items
Industry
On the passenger side I had to bend the mount for the upper coolant tank just a bit to get it out. They are about on par with an oil change as far as difficulty.
Heticor
Well I removed the driver side, with difficulty. The space is very tight and the oil fill is on the way of the valve bolt. But the driver side is impossible to remove without disassemble half of the car. The upper coolant bottle support is blocking the valve. I try to bent the support but there is no enough space. Heticor
Thanks, however he doesn't have the support that I show in the picture
bigBADbenny
On the adm ej255, the rhs injector guard can be bent out to the rhs giving clearance to slide out the ocv. The action is like a rifle bolt, pull out rotate down and pull out again iirc (or vice versa) Grab it, bend it sideways, remove breather hoses... iirc we removed a bolt from the turbo coolant tank and rotated it out of the way a little (it was a couple of years ago). Tank is just lifted off the locating post, we removed the short fat bit from the inlet too. The Bracket will bend back and we used a shifting spanner to tweak the angle so it was straight. Industry
Also pull the little hose right behind the ocv off the head. I just did one of these and it's worse than my 05, but far from impossible.
bigBADbenny
On adm ej's, the rhs ocv is usually at fault. No one is absolutely sure if the cause is clogging, wear or something electrical related to interference from the adjacent and mostly unshielded injectors. Heticor
Max , thanks for the information. ok, it is not impossible, but hard to do it, without bending the support, here the manufacture method. it requires a lot of work.
bigBADbenny
What support? Are you referring to the injector guard?

Industry
Just bend it and then when you are done bend it back. Easy peasy.
