FJ60
Two alignment and brake shops couldn't properly align my front. Both said I need an upper strut tower cam caster kit which they can find online for most makes except Subaru. Anyone heard of such a kit, and if so, know where I can purchase one for a Subie? BTW, I'm running pinks/Bilstein HDs. Thank you in advance! BAC5.2
If they can't align it, something is wrong. Either something is broken, or they don't know what they are talking about. Find out where local auto-crossers go for alignments, and ask them. FJ60
I'll ask around. In the meantime, have you ever heard of an "upper strut tower cam caster kit"? Is it the same thing as an adjustable camber/caster plate? BAC5.2
Probably means camber plates. You shouldn't need them. jamal
Do you have a printout or know the current alignment and what specifically they can't get into spec?
Dov
Our stock caster is too shallow for a caster plate, which is why we only have camber plates available. The closest you'll get is a lca bushing that adds caster. But that shouldn't be nessecary for the setup you have.

jamal
Looks like your alignment guy just doesn't know what he's doing. The upper bolt where the strut attaches to the upright is cammed for camber adjustment. They made no adjustments to the camber at all and don't seem to have touched the rear either (where only the toe is adjustable, but it should be zeroed). Also, having -1 degree in the front is a good thing, so when you go back make sure they adjust the side with 0 to have more and not the side with -1 down to zero. FJ60
You guys were right! The 2 alignment places I visited did not know what they were doing. The 3rd shop determined that the lca bushings were shot and the reason behind my alignment problem in less than 5 minutes. Makes me wonder whether the first 2 techs were lazy or inept. Did they replace the LCA Bushings? If not we can offer the Whiteline Upgraded LCA Bushings (they allow for greater adjustment of the caster) and are stiffer and more durable than stock replacement ones. Glad to hear that you found a competent place to work on your car. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
