tito_b0y
So a couple hours ago I was going home from my uncle's house literally just 3 minutes away from mine, and I was on the outside lane of the Allwood Circle. Lady in a Suzuki is on the inside lane. We were both coming from Bloomfield Ave (Styretowne side) and I was heading toward Allwood Road while she was trying keep going straight onto Bloomfield Ave. She taps me on my driver's side rear bumper. When I checked the damage, it was only scratches. Her car was a beater car so I'm assuming it doesn't matter to her. Called it in, and the officer took a look at my damage and said that since it's minor, we could talk and work it out. She also added when I was telling him my side of the story that we were both in the wrong lane, so if that's the case it's going to be a 50/50 split in damages. So I called my mom since I'm under her insurance and asked if I should have the officer file a report. I didn't want to cause any more trouble for both of us so I just told her that we'd exchange information and she agreed. So now I'm looking at repairs. I'll have pictures up tomorrow, but from the looks of it, it's only scratches, and the collision wasn't that bad either. But I'll take a closer look in the morning. In the meantime, does anyone know of any good body shops in or around Clifton? Passaic or even Bergen County areas? EDIT: Pictures plus pics of the other dent I got last winter from a chunk of ice from a another car. I might as well get that fixed too, right? Can anybody here give me a rough estimate? 2006 SWP 3.0R 5EAT VDC BBQ 2008 OBP 2.5i 4EAT BBQ [RIP]
GULLABLE0NE
police reports show that there was an accident. by filing a report that leads to other things. possible insurance premium increases, possible injury liability (if accident was not reported, then it never happened, and you can't be sued), and your cars vin number will forever be scarred on carfax. if the damage is just scratches i say let it go and just repaint your bumper yourself. FireB
Take a look at your deductable too. If you have $500 deductable and your bumper work is $500, it's not gonna be any benefit to you.
PeterJMC
^ +1 Even if your repair is $600 or $700 I would personally still pay out of pocket. It's not worth the possible increase in your insurance over time.
