1997 JDM Legacy GT-B keyless entry?

Recommended Posts

I have just purchased a JDM '97 Legacy GT-B Wagon RHD and the car only has one key. Does anyone know if it was supposed to come with a remote fob?

Also when I push the lock button on the driver side door nothing happens, should something happen or is this only for when the key is used in the door.

I went to get a new key cut at Canadian Tire and the person told me that she could not do it because the factory key has a transponder, is this true?

Any info is Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks,

Kyle T.

because the factory key has a transponder

never heard of this for the 90s cars.

when I push the lock button on the driver side door nothing happens,

are you talking about the separate lock / unlock button,

or the plastic lever like think on the door opener.

what happens when you use the lock / unlock button on the passenger door?

do you have a key fob for remote entry?

often when the driver door lock does not work with the others it is due to the remote entry unit being unplugged.

in the US,

for the 95 - 96 cars, when you unlocked / locked the driver door with the key or the ''lock'' on the door handle,

they all operated.

for the 97 - 99 cars, when you locked / unlocked with the key,

only the driver door operated.

if you used the separate lock / unlock button, they all operated.

johnegg,

Thanks for the info about the key. I figured out the lock button, it was for the window locks, I was bored in the line for the gas station so I was playing around. (After only having the car for 2 days)

Thanks,
