Do you want to trade your wood trim for my silver trim ?

Is it easy to pull the trim off and replace?

I'm not a big fan of the wood trim either - I don't think the silver has quite enough contrast. I think that a blue-carbon fibre might be nice, or maybe sandstone, or maybe seude leather... we need some creativity.

I'd be down to trade my wood trim for the silver. I know how they come off the doors, haven't gotten a chance to check the dash ones yet, but it shouldn't be difficult.

They're attached to the door cards with 5 screws.

I'll get pics or at least screengrabs from the service manual when I get a chance. The piece right above the glovebox should just be clipped on and pry off easy. The small piece between the radio and steering wheel is held on with one screw, have to remove the radio to get to it. Assuming the trim to the left of the steering wheel is screwed on also. I'll see if I can get a look at it tomorrow.

OK, played around with left front dash trim (piece 1) and it was pretty easy, basically three steps to get to the screws:

1. pull out cover on left side. I started from bottom and slowly pulled

2. remove two screws on the side

3. two yellow clips now hold that lower dash portion in. You can push the one closest to you out and then gently pull the second one out with the dash piece

3. then two chrome screws are holding in the trim

See pics

OK, piece over the glove box is the easiest of all. Gently pull from the right and the clips pull out. See pic.

Rutchard,

Do you have any tips & tricks on the door cards? The doors look challenging, but I assume there's a process that works.

dj0mla,

Are you still up for the swap?

Alrighty, just got home and now I've got access to my manual ;)

Rear door:

How to disconnect the cables for the door handle and lock on both front and rear doors.

I didn't go quite in the alphabetical order they listed, I started at the back corner of the door card and got the bottom row of clips out, then went up the sides in the order listed.

Don't forget to remove the screws by the door handle and lock! I broke a door card on a different car once because I forgot about those screws...

I am pretty interested - send me a few pics of the trim and we can chat some. Travel may be tough... and taking apart the doors/trim isn't that bad, just need to figure out how to do the swap part so neither of us worry about getting screwed.

Thanks

Jason
