wllmgrms
I recently bought an 03 Legacy L (AT transmission). It's in overall good condition, seems to run well. The car has 181,000 miles on it, drives good down the road. I'm a new subaru owner (besides having a 92 Loyale a few years ago) so I'm curious about some stuff. While I'm driving it, sometimes when I am going about 40+MPH it'll get close to 3000 RPM's and almost seem like it doesn't want to shift. I will even let off the gas to see if it will shift, but no. I was even going down a hill doing a little under 50 MPH and it still seemed to hesitate on shifting. The trans feels strong, the car is super peppy in 1st gear. At times it also seems to hesitate when I smash the gas a little bit (like going up a hill), and doesn't want to downshift to the previous gear. Is all of this just little quirks with these transmissions? Or should I get it serviced sometime to be safe? Any insight since I'm a new Suby owner would be great. Thanks! Thinking out side box
I would start with draining the oil, running it through an external filter, then re-adding it back into the transmission, should have plenty of life left.
