.blackgt.
Ok, so after hearing from the bodyshop about 7 months ago that I needed to take my car to Subaru to get it diagnosed, I did not. The shop said they needed to do a leakdown test and they couldn't. Fast forward to today. I just picked my car up from Arnst Motors and he was very nice. He printed out the wiring schematic for the auto climate control and explained where he thought my problem was coming from. In the picture below, you can see the circled part which is actually the entire HVAC interface (labeled AC control panel). He said everything checks out except for that piece itself. Either the harness after it is unplugged or has a bad connection, or that interface of buttons is FUBAR. http://i48.tinypic.com/2vb6bfq.jpg What would you guys recommend? Does anyone know how far back that next harness is so that I can unplug it and plug it back in to diagnose?? He was unsure of where it was actually located. Next option is borrowing or purchasing a new interface. Best part is he diagnosed it for free! That has never happened. I owe him something. Probably just word of mouth and bring some business his way.
InnocentGuns
Please correct me if im wrong but control panel seems like dash buttons. Have you taken apart dash for any reason and a plug wasnt reconnected?
.blackgt.
Yes control panel is dash buttons. I must preface with I got hit by a deer in November, and all my HVAC went out. Dead panel and everything. Body shop said "hey we fixed it by replacing a random fuse that was mislabeled" Don't know what fuse but I am beginning to think they didn't replace with the correct one, or they are confused, as I am. .blackgt.
I am going to take apart the HVAC unit tomorrow after work and try to locate that "multi joint connector", unplug, and plug it back in along with every other plug back there just to make sure. If that doesn't do it, I guess I will need to buy a new integrated head unit/HVAC.
InnocentGuns
Check all fuses and if it trips right away trace wires until you find where it is shorting. when you reconnect plugs i suggest using dielectric grease on all connections.
