How about we start showing some older Outback pics? I want to get some ideas for mine... Anybody have Legacy GT wheels on theirs?

This is the only one I have available, I'll post more later:

looking good. most cars hardly make it past 100k and your well past 200k! good work!

I just bought it about two months ago... It has a rebuilt JDM motor (same as the USDM) with about 70,000 miles on it. The old motor made it to 220,000! It was mainly highway mileage, but she took damn good care of it. Original owner, all service records, never wrecked. Paint and interior look like a 50,000 mile car. I got lucky with this one. All I had to do was replace the clutch when I bought it.

I've done a few things to mine...

G-forces are off the car, some new hyper black Torques with 235's are in the back of the car waiting to go on and it's rolling on the gold Boosts again.

Car has now had 21 sets of wheels and it's been a 7-year project, so you can check my long-winded build thread on my other board if you're curious about specifics, or jsut ask ;)

That looks killer! I'm looking to put my LGT wheels on my OB and do an intake, header, and exhaust. I also like those JDM side markers and the front end treatment. I don't want to do too much as it is my daily driver and I have my LGT to play with...

Long story (very) short, no. Ended up going a different way after my relations withthat shop went a bit south and it went under.

I bought this instead (still have the wagon, too)

It's now wingless, and has a few other bits coming.

Back to OB pics, I'll post when I get the new wheels on the wagon tomorrow.

Don't know if any of you guys followed the 24 Hours of Lemons race a couple of months ago, but some of the SoCal LGT guys (myself included) campaigned a 98 OB. We killed the motor in short order due to overheating, but we'll be back for the October race. In the brief time we were out there, we were passing everything in sight. Here's the car:

Outbacking...

I found a new development that is just windy dirt roads in a big empty lot with hills and all the fun stuff... Soon to be a new neighborhood with houses. Perfect rally road!

Nope. The paint job is a great story. In the background of the last pic you can see a sign for L&J Auto Body and Paint. We went over there and asked them for some old remnant cans of paint. Stuff they were planning on throwing out. The owner comes back the next day with about 10 different cans that had maybe 1/2" of paint left at the bottom. Some looked at least 10 years old. One of the driver's (Mike) on our team is a custom painter (Paint by Mike). He does a lot of motorcycles, midget race cars and the like. He took all the cans, dumped then all together and thinned it out. I sanded down the car, gave it a quick rinse and he shot the car. That was the grey-ish basecoat. Then he shot all the little speckles on the car with his paint gun at very low pressure so that the black and white paints would come out in little blobs. All that, including prep, took about 2 hours. The rest of the artwork was airbrushed on. The finished product was amazing, especially since there is about $20 of materials in it. We actually caught a bunch of heat at the race since our car looked too good and everyone thought we spent way over the race stipulated budget, which we did not.
