HELP! Engine needed

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum so forgive me if i am long winded. I have 2006 Legacy 2.5 GT. I bought the car with 9 miles on it. the second year of having it i had to replace the turbo. Now i got error codes P0011 and P0021 and was told i need a new engine. Where can i find a rebuilt engine. I know nothing about engines so i want to to a engine swap so i can get back on the road asap. any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Where are you from, we might be able to direct you to a competent shop that can do a rebuild, typically used turbo subaru engine's are a big risk. What I recommend is getting a new shortblock, reusing your cyl heads, and be done...with a fresh setup. It's typical that when the turbo goes on these engines that the engine follows soon after especially if the car was driven with a bad turbo.

Those codes mean your turbo is not getting oil. If you fix clean the OCV's and banjo filter, listen to the turbo, replace it before it goes. The engine may be fine.

Most any repair shop should know about that. My turbo lasted about 1000 miles after I got those codes. Engine was fine.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

This is what i got from the mechanic in mulkiteo washington. ACIS out, ocv out, lt cam ceased, and turbo ceased. Sludge and pieces of the turbo shaft made it though the oiling system. So thats where i am at. i found motor complete with trubo for 2800 shipped. thoughts???

It depends on how many miles are on the motor. $2800 could be a great deal or an awful deal depending on the condition of the motor.

I would look for a Subaru Specific Independent shop in your area to have this issue taken care of.

As others have suggested to do just a shortblock, make sure if you go that route, you replace the oil pump, and any other part that can't be totally cleaned out of shrapnel from the cam and turbo breakdown.
