Help, STI cams dont fit

Recommended Posts

Have bought a new 2005 STI 2,5 lit short block and also 2 used STI 2004 cylinder heads fully equipped. Tried to put the timing belt on (crank pulley mark up and the two II cam marks against each other). Timing completely wrong when checking with 1st piston in full compression.

Taking it apart again I found out my old and the new cams are different. The pin guiding the sprocket on the new cams are 45 degrees different from the old ones.

The cam on the engine is the new one.

Please help!

Is it possible you got a set of D-AVCS cams for a 2008~ STi, or have transposed the cams left to right? Are those the same heads? The one on the bench looks to be different, and even looks like it has passenger-side cams installed in it.
Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.

Hi, just wanted to tell I solved the matter. Car started last wednesday and runs great.

You can't just say that without telling us what you did to make them work.

That's not fair...

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
