BOXRPWR
I'm seriously considering participating in this SpeedVentures event on Sat. 12/1 at California Speedway. $195 fee for 4 sessions. That's quite a bit cheaper than this venue typically costs. http://www.speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=146 http://images6.theimagehosting.com/calspeedrovaltrack.th.gif

colatkitty
Hey Kevin, I'm already signed up for Sunday the 2nd. You wanna consider running on Sunday instead? BTW, how did Spring Mountain go?
BOXRPWR
sure. why not Sunday. I still need to confirm a few things (like the money). but I'm pretty sure I'd love to experience the big loop. Spring Mountain was fabulous. I love that track. No problems. Best time was 2:57 on the 3.1 mile track. That's averaging a tick over 60 mph!

urfsin
I'm so tempted it's not even funny. I want to do this so bad, but I can't. My race budget is too small right now, so I am doing the autocross with Team Blew on Dec 8th. Ken Block (rally driver for team subaru) will be there in an 08' STI. I am curious how the "Trout" will do on the same course. Slide It Sideways
BOXRPWR
can't wait for Sunday! so what's the best guess for a "safe" fast speed through Oval Turns 1 & 2? Do you think 120-130 mph is possible on street tires?

MiniStiGuy
so tell me, what kind of speeds did you carry through the sweeping banked turns? got up to speeds well over 115.. the thing that sucked most is that we had to leave traction control on. BOXRPWR
I normally turn off my Speed3's traction control system at the track. But I am seriously thinking about leaving it on for the Roval to provide greater insurance that I don't overdrive the car right into the wall. urfsin
Not a bad idea. As you well know, we don't have traction control, but I would like to think AWD is a damn good substitute. Slide It Sideways

BOXRPWR
come on Mr. Sunshine! need to dry off that speedway oval today (Sat.) so Sunday's event can run at full speed. feeling kinda sorry for the guys that signed-up for Saturday's event. I doubt the track surface is completely dry since its still sprinkling rain here in Temecula.
Piripi
Hello I went to the oval today, very nice cool day, track was completely dry. 5 ferraris, a 430 in particular was extremelly interesting, the 430 challenge, not street legal, the owner is this retired guy very talkative. I was hoping to see at least one lagacy. See you at the next track event(with my miata)
BOXRPWR
Piripi, What was your typical speed through the oval turns? Just looking for a benchmark so I don't get carried away (literally.....on a stretcher).

colatkitty
wow, that track looks FUN. So how fast were you going in the big sweeper / how fast was your fastest speed? Fastest speed I got was 135 on the front straight. Could have gone just a bit faster if I had the balls to push it more, but survival instincts kicked in and lifted my right foot ... I was carrying 120 through the banked turn, again may be able to do a bit better than that.
