I am interested in upgrading my seat to something that is bigger, lower, supportive, comfortable and non-slippery.

So far I have found one that is within my budget and seem to fit my interests:

I am not sure if this will fit or not...I guess a trip to a dealer is needed!

What aftermarket seat do you have? Got any pics?

Thanks,

Those IX seats make that Cooper. Otherwise, its a big pooper.

Corbeaus are great for the money. No doubt Evo seats rocks.. but much more dough. The Corbeaus are definately for us Americans... they make the widest approved seat.

Seat airbags is an issue. When the SRS module doesnt see all the airbags, the whole system is disabled and will not work until the airbag(s) is present... or does it. The plus is, you can retain the SRS system without airbags. The SRS module actually sees the airbags as resistance. Find out what the resistance of the airbag is, and plug in resistor in its place. Here is the slight problem, how to find out the resistance... your probably thinking using a DMM. Unfortunately, not all airbags can be tested that way. The power inside the DMM could pop the airbag. My sister used to work at OEA - Original Equipment Airbag and we got all the specs on my buddys 02 Jetta. He swapped in some Sparcos. We plugged in 4.7ohm resistors (according to manufacturing specs) and the SRS light shut off, and seemed as everything was good to go. Never had an issue since.

5 point harnesses own.. but yea, not for the street. And its not because it wont protect you, but if you have never been strapped down with a 5 point harness, you will quickly realize your not comfortable. Imagine on the street, 5pm rush hour, strapped in, 20 mins from home, needing to drop the kids off... I could imagine the pain now.

The takeoff EVO IX Recaro's are not much more than a pair of new Corbeau's. As for the comment about the car pictured, even the stock seats were 10x more comfortable than both Subaru's we've owned.

Another major problem with swapping seats is the Passenger Occupancy Detector System. I changed the seats in my 05 legacy to 07 spec B seats and the ODS was different, and it was a major pain in the ass. If that system isn't working properly you can wind up with improper air bag deployment etc. Our seats just aren't made to be swapped out. They change them from year to year and the systems all seem to be integrated (ie you mess up one part of the system and everything falls apart, airbags, ODS, cruise, etc.) oh yeah, and the car will beep non stop if your airbag light is on... much worse than the seat belt chime.

it's called OC3. I swapped the OEM sensor into my Recaro's:

The OC3 was only used in certain years on our cars. In the earlier years, it comprises of four spring sensors on the corners of the seat. The seats also vary greatly form year to year, not stuff that you would necessarily recognize, but they are different shapes, and the seat belts are in different places. For example the 07 seat bealt female part is bolted onto the car, while in 05 it is bolted on to the seat. This is only true for the Passenger side. I'd love to hear the utter nonsense that goes on over at Subaru when they design some of these cars. It is just ridiculous at times.

Damn, so much for swapping the 08 Spec B seats into my 05 Outback :(

You can do it, you just need to customize stuff. Look for the thread where I swapped my seats. It was me and some other guy. It just took some customization.

...so all i need to do is pull out the passenger side "weight-detection-thingy" like what PGT did...and both driver and passenger side air bags out and customize it into my Corbeau CR1! That's it!!!

Sweet...simple...who wants to help?

keep in mind on my install, I bought a junkyard seat for $200 and removed the sensor. it had to be cut out on mine...not sure about teh LGT. I have a full spare matching cloth interior in my attic with black leatherette rear seats going in for daily use.
