dflinn
I have a noise while boosting in every gear and i have no idea wheres its at. I have no lose in power and my turbo is in perfect shape. When i hit around 5 psi and on i can hear a noise kinda sounding like a jack brake on a big rig like somthings sucking for air. I still hit peak boost but have no idea what it is any ideas? xt2005bonbon
Do you have an aftermarket air intake? Provide a sound clip or HD video.
dflinn
no its all stock except for stage two tune and ive tried to video the sound but all you can hear is my exhuast, the noise is right up front in the engine bay
xt2005bonbon
Do you have a K&N air filter panel? They are direct replacement of the paper one and fit in the air box. And have you had that sound since you've had the car?
dflinn
facter air filter and everything and no it started about a month after taking it to stage two
dflinn
factory air filter **
xt2005bonbon
Then we have to wait for people with stage 2 to chime in. Since we can't actually hear your engine sound, it's hard to diagnose. But my current guess would be that since you're stage 2, turbo may be sucking more air now, thereby hearing the wooosh sound coming from the air intake better than before. I may be wrong. I Donated thefultonhow Posted March 23, 2012 I Donated Share Posted March 23, 2012 but a thicker gasket on my up pipe where it bolts to the turbo unless its where it bolts to the header Could be either. And is the UP-to-turbo gasket the stacked sheetmetal type, or that metallic paper stuff?
dflinn
stacked metal type its a 7 layer one 22% thicker than the stock one
Cyclozene
As people said it could be a gasket. I have a gasket leak on the downpipe and it sounded horrible. Like a fluttering noise. —Pirated Tapatalk app
suba
I have a stage 2 tune with aftermarket up/down and stock filter. I have quite a noticeable turbo sound under any kind of boost, though I bought the car in its current setup so I can't vouch for before and after stage 2. dflinn
yeah mines just like a flutter but imma try all new gaskets and check my intake
Cyclozene
If it's not the gasket it could be your wastegate which is natural. As you build the boost in your car the wg will go fap fap! it prevents your car from overboosting. I'm sure someone else will chime in —Pirated Tapatalk app
dflinn
yeah im thinking if i adjust my wastegate it'll help i posted this on nasioc to and they said my wastegate needs adjusting so imma give that a try and see what happens
Cyclozene
Don't touch your wastegate. It's either broken or its not. And if you aren't overboosting leave it alone. It's designed to do that —Pirated Tapatalk app
dflinn
okay but what about an intake leak somewhere?
Cyclozene
It could be your throttle body coupler but it's hard to tell. Post a video —Pirated Tapatalk app
trackhore
sounds like typical stage 2 wastegate flutter to me. but I'm not riding shotgun, so my opinion is useless.
GSlegacy
check you MAF sensor to make sure its not loose, also check the TMIC to see if the hose has collapsed. If you have a bov check the lines that are connected to it to make sure there is no leaks
Cyclozene
I can almost be 100% sure that it is waste gate flutter. It is normal! —Pirated Tapatalk app
