60k maintenance

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get back my Legacy back from my cousin who I let take the payments over I had some financial problems with a couple accidents and health issues. My car got totaled parked on the street and he doesnt want it anymore. He didnt do the 45k maintenance. The car just got to 60k and I drove it around yesterday and it looks like it's been neglected a bit besides oil changes. The steering wheel was a bit stiff when turning also.

I'm not a huge car head. Does anyone know what Subaru usually charges ? What parts do they use ? If its to much I was thinking of just taking it to a local mechanic and buy the parts on my own.

I think you e-mailed us or PMed us. But I would suggest bringing it to us to get it checked out and get the 60k done. :)

I wanted to go to AZP but between the head gasket problem that was going to take 2 days to fix and the transmission oil being the 1st step to figuring out what's making the car jerk. I just decided to do everything at the dealer this time.

So I took my car to the dealer yesterday. I told him the steering wheel was quite stiff, when turning and when I hit the gas it was accelerating to much which caused the car to jerk forward.

He calls me later and tells me I have a leaking head gasket and the transmission oil needs to be changed. He said it was pretty low on oil and dark. He said it would be $175 for the transmission oil. Then he suggested i do the 60k maintenance. I told him isn't replacing the transmission oil part of the 60k maintenance he laughed and said no but then "threw" it in. He tightened the belt for the steering wheel because it was loose. Are there problems with these belts ? I remember it breaking on me around 40k and had it replaced at the dealer.

I didn't have the car for about a year and a half and my cousin seemed to only be doing the oil changes.

He also wanted to do my rear brakes and said it would be $294 but that seemed pretty high so i passed.

I'm just wondering how bad is all this for the long term ?

AZP is full service shop and can do all the work your looking for, with better fluids/parts/prices/service...... I think you would be crazy to take it to the dealer if AZP is any where close to where you live. My .02c, and its always good to support a vendor!!

Absolutely but im about a hour away in NY. The head gasket was covered by the warranty. I didn't want to keep driving the car the way it was and possibly damaging it some more.

Warranty is always a good thing. Can't beat that price. :)
