Euclid
My neighbor owns this time capsule. He bought it new in 1968. All services have been performed at the same Porsche dealer by the same mechanic. The car has 25,000 original miles. The car is stored in his garage except for the 3 times a year he pulls it out to wipe it down and take it for a short drive. The car was accepted into the intermountain concours d' elegance, so I pleaded with him to let me bring the sparkle back into his paint. The car is amazingly clean for being 43 years old, but the paint was oxidized a bit and had some swirling due to being wiped down with towels for four decades. I washed and clayed Menzerna SIP was used in combination with 4" LC orange pads + PC7424 I then used a blue 6" Edge pad to apply Poorboy's Black Hole (this is an amazing product). I then topped everything off with a white 6" Edge pad and Wolfgang Sealant I treated all the exterior trim with Poorboy's Trim Restorer. Tires were treated with Poorboy's Bold N' Bright. I 303'd the interior. The engine needed nothing more than just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth. I started before the sun was up, so I didn't bother taking some full car before pics because you can't really see anything. OCDetails
Doooooood!!! What's up with all these fine ass cars you keep getting to detail?? I'd rather work on one of these beauties than a late model car ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! Awesome work and great attention to detail on that puppy! _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . Euclid
Yeah, I've been spoiled. I have no desire to detail newer cars (other than my own). I get people from the suby crowd asking me to detail their cars all the time, but when I sent them my price list I don't hear back . I enjoy detailing and am passionate about it, but I want to keep the passion alive, and detailing a bunch of cars for little money sounds like a good way to ruin the love. I figure my pricing keeps the kiddos away, but not the people who understand quality work is worth the investment.
OCDetails
EXACTLY! I price myself out of the market sometimes just to keep the riff raff away. I'm not really interested in being the local car wash guy. Until I need to do this to support the family, I think I'll continue to price myself out there as sort of a luxury and not your average service. God forbid this ever become a 'job' to me. I think I like keeping it as a passion. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . mwiener2
I've got an 1986 Targa I'm going to be spending some hours on over the next few weeks. My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
OCDetails
^^ I'm even more jealous of that. If I had my druthers I'd have a 1989 911 and love it like it was my child. I'd take a '78 whale tail too... ah hell..... I'd let you beat me for a Porsche of any year. Just as long as it isn't a 944 I'll be happy. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . mwiener2
The paint is not original on mine.. just noticed the other day. It's a good paint job though, took me 2 weeks to notice. I'm changing the trans fluid on my porsche and it gives a great view of the underside. A transmission housing mostly BEHIND the rear axle? craziness! I also love the fact that they have essentially no driveshaft, just half-shafts. When you think about it, almost no car should have LESS parasitic loss than a Porsche-esque design - they have the least parts to sap power AFAIK (even compared to most modern FWD designs). I could be wrong. Nonetheless, it's a thing of beauty.
hmmrdwn
Nice car and good job. Classic car. I've always admired classic cars from a distance, but never had the interest to own one. First of all, I can't see a beautiful car like that sitting in a garage 364 days of the year and I appreciate the advancements in technology, safety, comfort and power that new cars have over the old ones. Still a wonderful car and you did a great job detailing it.
