Leviathan
I just flashed my '05 LGT with a 16G and the tune strongly suggests that I go with a cooler. My question is should I run the factory cooler plus the aftermarket cooler in line or just omit the factory cooler?
ehsnils
I would do an inline, first factory and then the aftermarket in order of flow. But I suspect that measuring the oil temp would really tell you if you need one or not.
Whatisit
run both factory and then aftermarket aux cooler. Also put the biggest one you can fit back there.
Leviathan
I ended up getting an Imperial Econo-Kool® Transmission Oil Cooler. It was $30. Not the biggest one on the planet, but it fit PERFECT. I installed it through the lower opening in the bumper on the drivers side. The supplied line was just the right amount too. I cut the longer one to fit first and the extra fit the second line. It's after the factory cooler so hopefully it can take a little more heat out of the fluid. I'll snap pictures later.

scoobydoobie
Yeah its a RacerX. Not really, just have your dremel ready and an extra set of hands to help line up/hold pipes. Have a smaller pill or EBCS if installing w/a stock turbo.

scoobydoobie
I know I needed one with my VF40. WGDC was maxxed out and was only hitting 15 PSI. Switched to the smaller 1.00 mm pill and all was fine.

frank_ster
summit racing has a inline thermostat witch i think is the most important. keep oil at 180 deg .. when the oil is too cold the torque don't lock up as soon as it should.. frank_ster
the factory set up is soo retarded ! , in the winter the tranny never realy gets up to temperature because the bottom of the rad is so cold. in summer it re heats the coolant after being cooled . wtf !!
