wera832
So in working on the kids cars, Ive found that the reason behind not being able to get the head lights to line up was due to broken mouting tabs. In pricing new EOM assemblies ,Ive nearly had a stroke , so offto ebay - found these and wondering if anyone has had experience with aftermarket replacment head lights ? Dont really car abotu the HID but ,it would be cool - let me know what you guys and gals think and please share what ya know - http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-2005-2007-SUBARU-LEGACY-OUTBACK-CLEAR-CORNER-PROJECTOR-XENON-HID-HEADLIGHTS-/310428608178?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D1809324180568842932%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%
apexi
I can't speak for 2005-2007 headlights, but I had a '08-'09 TYC headlight on my car that appeared to be of good quality. The only complaint I had was that the TYC headlight threw light a little differently than my oem subaru headlamp. This wouldn't have been a problem if I had 2 tyc headlamp assemblies, but it drove me nuts since one side looked different than the other. couple pics http://home.comcast.net/~apexigsx/subaru/headlights/larger/1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~apexigsx/subaru/headlights/larger/2.jpg
wera832
^ strange , wonder if the used a differnt lens on the low beam ? Courious - Just for my info , where did you find your replacment ?
apexi
Not really sure about the lens. I think the tyc probably has a cheaper lens based off the streaking in the second picture, which would make sense since it is much cheaper in price than OEM subaru. A dealership body shop installed the TYC headlight after an accident. I wish I had known it would project light different than the OEM subaru, I would've paid the extra money out of pocket for a genuine subaru headlight. Oh well, live and learn. charlie_sheen
depo's are indeed a reliable brand. ive installed two sets on my old cars (bmw's) and they were of nice quality for a good price. i would definitely recommend them.
IanB
I had a TYC unit put in after an accident, and it threw a rainbow colored cutoff line, compared to the clean/sharp OEM cutoff line when shining against a wall. I had the shop swap it out for another OEM unit.
