Gav_William
Hey everyone. I've just bought a 2005 Legacy Sportwagon 2.0GT, and I love it. Wanted one for years. I've driven a fair amount of them and I know they're thirsty cars generally. I've been doing some stop start town driving (not in Sport mode) and I'm returning figures of 4.5km/litre which is about 2.48 miles to the litre. Overall that's 105mpg I think. I'm almost on half a tank and driving pretty conservatively. It seems pretty excessive, should I have it checked out? The car has just had its 125 000km service, so I'm a bit perplexed, but as I said these Boxers are thirsty so maybe I'm being uneccessarily paranoid. Any advice would be welcome. Cheers Gavin Cape Town, South Africa
Gav_William
Sorry I meant 10.5 mpg obviously. According to a conversion site.
IanB
We didn't get a 2.0GT in these parts in '05, all our Legacy's were 2.5L, NA and turbo. That said my 2.5i has averaged 11.1L/100km in the time I've had it. Yours sounds really thirsty to me.

bluesuby
My 2005 LGT wagon will get 23 mpg in traffic and lots of stop and go, and 25 mpg on the highway.
MilesA
With the 2.5T 5M, average about 25 mpg on the highway; 18-20 around town. Town fuel consumption varies quite a lot depending on number of starts and stops, aggressiveness, etc.
Gav_William
Thanks lads (and girls where appropriate). I'll have it checked out. Appreciate your feedback. This is drinking like a vagrant, and I doubt the 2.5 is that much more economical. Cheers
SlickSpur
Hmm, you guys have heavier foots than me or something. I have a 2.5GT, manual transmission. I usually leave it in Intelligent mode, and city driving I average about 23 mpg and highway about 27 28 mpg.
Fisch
I have an 05 LGT and I get about 20-25 mpg depending on how conservatively I'm driving, but average is like 23 I believe.
bikeybikebike
Mixed highway/city I get 9.5-10L/100km for my 2.5i MT. Closer to 11.5L/100km with a roof rack.
