Jazzy,

I found a GLI that it apears to use the 3.5mm connectors while looking for powered pda mounts:

Just though I would lend a helping hand to such an asome product.

Malvic, I did the same, and wasn't careful enough with the connector, I thought i was, but it came loose and since i re-taped it, no problems.

I want to do this mod soon after I pick up my car... maybe over the winter sometime.

I have a question, though... could something like this be done?

I would like to possibly buy the 2007 center armrest cubby interior piece, with the aux female jack next to the power point. (I'll likely use an ipod powered dock solution, with a line output, like belkin's or similar, with a short male-male jack cable from the ipod adapter to the cubby aux jack)

I don't know what sort of cable is behind that aux jack, or how it plugs into the 07 stereo module... but I thought maybe someone with access could find out...

And then an intermiediate cable could be fabricated to patch between the center console jack, or it's cable connector, and the jazzy board.

Better yet, a molex-style locking-tab connector on the input side of the jazzy board, to avoid the loose headphone jack issue, to an intermediate connector on or behind the back of the head unit, that either accepts a cable from the console plug, or an adapter cable that converts into headphone female jack to be located wherever...

Thank you! :) Seriously, I appreciate the continued positive feedback from everyone. I have been busy as hell lately and trying to keep up with orders has been a challenge, but it's definitely worth it to me & I'm glad it's worth it to others, even with a little bit of a wait. ;)

So, after a year of many a person asking for recommendations on what to use to hook up their iPod, I decided to finally make a couple of kits that just include an iPod-specific harness.

One caveat to this particular setup is it requires you to splice some power wires to connect the harness to your vehicle's 12V system, but it provides the ultimate in stealth if you're using an iPod - a single cable from your iPod to provide power & audio. I received the first shipment of harnesses in the mail today & they are up on the site ready to go.

I have been following this thread for a while and don't understand something.

The point of an aux. input is to directly input a device to the system. I can see a device like an IPod that uses the connector as in input/output . Then there would be a direct digital connection. But a device like a sat radio uses the headphone jack as the output. Isn't this analog? So why does it work?

OK, I'm electronic device challenged, I know.

Thanks

Everything is 100% analog. The board taps into the analog line level for the CD player. You add the analog line level signal of any device you want - including iPods. There is zero digital comm involved in any setup using this board.

Honestly, I don't know. Since the forester has the din cd changer mod available, no one who has enquired has ever looked into it further - they just do that instead.
