The wife, the dog and I currently attempting to hike all 48--4000'+ mountains in New Hampshire. There are a total of 68 in New England.

HE HIKES

I did the AT SOBO '08. Not much time for hiking beyond a close radius these days - means the dog and I are getting fat.

i bolded the few i've done. i've hiked most of the way up washington twice but never summited. made it part way up the tux bowl (in march) and then it whited out so we strapped in and rode down fresh pow to the parking lot. second time was early april and hiked up hillman's highway to the top of the snow fields and then went down hillmans and then as far down the sherburne as we could go before having to hike the rest of the way.

not on the 4000ft list but just hiked morgan and percival loop last weekend. BEAUTIFUL view of squam lake with winnipesaukee in the background, probably one of the best views i've seen in the NH mountains i've hiked. we were going to do whiteface but i am just getting back in action from an injury so i wanted to take it easy.

WAIT just a second....that dog hikes?

that dog doesn't just hike, he runs up the mountains. He get's the top, eats his food and begs to start again. He lives for climbing 4000 footers.

Not all small dogs are useless lap dogs.

I've done a lot of hiking through the years, not so much lately but really want to get back to it. I'll highlight below ones I've done. My dad got me into hiking when I was around 12 and I pretty much continued to go on hikes with him until I got married and had a baby a few years ago, but I will get back to it and plan on getting my son hiking as soon as he's old enough..

Mt Jefferson has evaded me for a while. I attempted to climb it about 8 years ago with a friend and after we got above the treeline and stopped to have our lunch, a giant thunder cloud came out of no where over the top of Mt Washington heading our direction. We decided to turn back and it seemed like the right choice as we got soaked heading back down through the woods and could hear the thunderboomers up above..

Oh, one way to bag a bunch of the highest peaks is to hike Crawford path all the way to Washington and back. Stay at the Mitzpah hut...

Mt Tom is a nice hike that can be done pretty quickly some morning or afternoon. The highlight is when you get towards the summit the Gray Jays are famous for being super friendly, we fed them out of our hands like in this video, but do a google on Gray Jays and Mt Tom, there is a bunch of good stuff.

Bridal path and Falling waters are two very different, but very good trails.

I prefer to go up falling waters and down bridal path. Falling waters is too steep for my crappy knees to take going down the mountain.

it's long, but it's easy as far as actual climbing goes.

Osceola kicked my butt. Did both peaks in one day.
