Cobb Shift Knob ( Review)

Just a warning this is my first review so I hope its not too bad.

So about a month ago purchased the Cobb Shift Knob for our legacy and I must say I am very impressed. The stock knob is nice but it definitely makes for a fairly tall shifter and some longer throws. I ordered the Cobb knob from stillen racing for about $75 all said and done.

Out of the box the knob seems quite small, but the finish is very nice. Especially the blue bottom to it, which on the five speed knob has the lip to hold the shift boot up. In comparison to the stock knob it is definitely lighter and and much shorter.

Install was quite easy and I know there are other threads on here saying how to.

Once installed it dropped the height quite a bit, prob over an inch as the Cobb knob itself is about 1/2 inch shorter then the stock one, and it appears that the threads go deeper into the Cobb Knob. I was also impressed how accurate the threads are placed so that when the knob is tightened down the two Cobb engravings are front and rear.

Driving with it for the past month or so has been quite enjoyable. I like the feel of it in my hand. Just fits right in there and is very comfortable. Not sure how it would be for those who prefer to hold the knob on the side, but on top its nice. Also since the knob is made from delrin it has not gotten very cold on some of these cold new england days. It also seems to me that the throws were shortened a little bit and seem to be a bit more precise.

While not exactly inexpensive I am very happy with it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a bunch of pictures but I do have some of it on the car so here they are.

Never used anything other then the stock knob before this, but so far in some of the warm weather we have had in the last 2-3 weeks here in RI, some of which hit 85 and sunny where my car sat basking in the sun for a while, it has been fine. cooler then the steering wheel and a hell of alot cooler then the seatbelt.

I currently have the Momo knob as well. I was able to tolerate the cold weather with it, but i'm starting to get concerned about summer. How does this compare to the Momo knob?

Yes I'm concerned about the same thing. Momo looks cooler, more functional, whereas the Cobb is one smooth round piece. Wondering which ones feels better during shifting.

I think the Cobb feels better shifting...it's a little bit smaller than the Momo. And I lasted the entire summer without burning my hand! The Momo fits better into the overall interior of the car, but I am very pleased with the Cobb knob.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the Momo just looks much better with the interior. The Cobb comes in red or blue, neither which would match my tan leather interior. Tough choice!

I went with blue because my car is blue. But to be honest, I don't think the color really changes anything for the interior. It's a subtle location.

Just called up Cobb and ordered my new shift knob in red. My car is white, but my seat belt buttons are red, so I figured red would match somewhat. No blue on my car at all, except the antifreeze.

Very excited to get this product! The stock knob already shifts great, but the leather is tearing and I wanting something new and fun.
