Rotting quarter panel, what do I do?

So, here's the topic I've been dreading.

Subaru has never been good at rustproofing the quarter panels (not as bad as Chrysler though ) my dog leg is beginning to rot on my 05 GT Wagon, it appears that i'm one of the first to have this happen, and chances are you'll have this happen too in the future if you own a Legacy Wagon.

What should I do to repair this? I'm capable of welding in a quarter panel myself, the problem is, I don't need an ENTIRE quarter panel, and that's all that I can find. I just need the dog leg with a few inches into the wheel arch due to how far back the rust tracks internally. There has to be something I can do about this, I want to stop the rot before it advances more and consumes important structural components.

If anyone has tackled this at all please post your advice here, I'll love you forever if you do.

Mine was in the same place and barely noticeable under the trim, but I wanted to get on it right away and I have a buddy who's dad owns a great body shop. I see literally no other areas of concern currently, my wagon is very clean with 143k miles.

Unfortunately the shop underestimated the work and my total doubled from the time of dropping it off. He said he doesn't ever take this kind of work for this reason, waaay too much time/effort/$$$ to do correctly. Helps to have friends.

The finished product is awesome, the trim piece isnt a perfect fit, paint is tho. He said another year and it would have been twice the work, ie not worth the repair.

Any luck getting one from a junk yard? Trying to find good quarters in a junk yard isn't real easy but can be a good deal. My buddys body shop had to fix the rear quarter panel on my old honda odyssey van and the whole quarter panel was insane but he was able to buy section of used panel and weld it into place. Once finished you couldn't tell the difference.
