FundamentalyConfused
Are the rear struts interchangeable on a 1990 L model? All the strut manufacturers are giving me 2 different numbers. What could be so different between left and right side? I'm not looking forward to spending over $100 for 1 new rear strut. I have a used rear quick strut for that car, is there any way of telling if it's still good or not, other than seeing fluid on the piston? Thanks
Legacy Wagon
I believe the top hats on the rear are angled, but they may spin around anyway...just cant remember. And the brake line bracket is probably the difference I would guess? What do you mean quick strut? And I'm not sure how you would tell once it's off the car. Also the wagon and the sedan have different struts so you have to make sure it's from whatever your car is.
FundamentalyConfused
A quick strut is a strut, spring and mount all together. They're more expensive but they make changing struts easy sauce. Those started getting popular in the last 5 years. I have a sedan and I do see a different part numbers compared to the wagon. Would I be able to bolt up rear wagon struts? I imagine they'll give a sedan more clearance than normal. I will probably have to take my used quick strut to my mechanic and see if he can take it off the spring for me and check it. Thanks. Legacy Wagon
Gotcha. And yeah...that'd do it. I believe junk yards sell them pretty cheap That's actually a good question. Not sure that I've heard of anyone trying it before. You'd have to do some research. Maybe ask the guys on bbs.legacycentral.org It sounds valid if they mount up the same. It's not hard to take it off. It's hard to get it back on haha
SubaruScully
I replaced the rear struts on my 90 L got them off eBay for 75 for the pair I believe there are two different numbers because the brake line bracket is mounted on the strut. That's the only difference.
