What kind of numbers were you expecting?

This dyno read low according to most, you also have you figure you are at 4500' above sea level.

Stock STIs hit 220 on this beast, so 242 isn't slouching.

I hit 292.5 which I was happy about, there were 3 B7 Audi RS4s they are a 450 hp car according to Audi, I beat one of them, i was 1.5 hp shy of beating the next one that had just had its carbon cleaning done and had open exhaust, and was about 13 shy of the other one who has a modified intake manifold with flaps removed, de-carboned and also has open exhaust. SO what i'm trying to say is... It reads low.

I was shooting for 300, last time. then realized what a heart breaker it was, still was shooting for 300 this time.

I had them do the 3rd pull in 4th gear (instead of third), it boots higher and it did infact put down the most torque, and was the second highest on hp, i think if it was my first run in 4th gear, it would have been the most powerful of the day.

So here are all three of the day:

and here is my favorite, my best run of saturday vs my best run of the last dyno day in feb

I'm peeking at 28-30 psi. For reference, this same day 3 Audi B7 RS4s were on the dyno as well, these are "450hp" from the factory. My car put down more power then 1 stock one, was 1.5 hp short of one with a fresh carbon cleaning and open headers, and about 13 short of the one with a modified intake manifold and fresh cleaning and open pipes as well. Mine did 292.5, but my breather system was messed up and i was burning a lot of oil.

Ziptie's dyno doesn't read low, it tells the hard truth! Those mustang dynos are nicknamed the "heartbreak" dyno.

Truth bomb... In the sales brochure, the HP that is advertised is usually measured at the crank and at sea level, under ideal conditions. Add 4,500 feet of elevation and some drivetrain loss (15+% avarage loss for AWD), and what you have is what the mustang dyno reads. For these Subarus, at our altitude, anything over 250whp is fantastic.

What is important is that you use the same dyno as you move up and through all your power mods. Jumping around dynos to find the biggest number doesn't make your car faster:lol:

I really like working with the guys at Ziptie. They are very knowledgeable and we are lucky to have a facility where we can measure the actual progress of our cars.

Learning more every time I look at this thread!

they say Subaru's drivetrain loss is about 24% and altitude is about another 10% i thought 241 sounded high for stage 2 car. i would be plenty happy with 240+

It IS a spec.B, so I guess that makes sense

I'm itching to get on a dyno, I just need to get a little better cash flow...

Do it! I wanna see how my Infamous tune compares to others!
