Garandman
There's another high speed autocross at Ft Devens MA Sunday 9/28. You usually get at least five runs, and a "fun run" or 2 as well. I will likely be the only one there with a trailer hitch. Come on down! Great fun. You need a Snell approved helmet but they usually have loaners, and I have a couple extras. Garandman
They usually limit it to 50 or 55. A co-worker with a WRX signed up today and they have 46. They usually sell out every event. Who Dares Wins スバル

SubOperator
I just had AutoX event at Devens 9/21 (with Boston chapter of BMWCCA). You get 8 runs ( 4 AM, 4 PM), lots of seat time and fun. From what I heard from other people, we in NE are really blessed with Devens site - it's about what, 1-1.5 mile ? I am not sure if I go 9/28, going to NJ for another event. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K

SubOperator
There are usually many different cars in general; 1 series, 3 series, M roadsters, M3, couple of 5 series, Porsche, bunch of Mazdas (Miata and MazdaSpeed), WRX and STI, Mitsu Evo, and some rare cars like old Triumph and Alfa, Datsun, etc. There were few hot Civic hatches that were gutted out and these were bringing some decent run times... In G class last time we were against 2 Miatas, 1 MazdaSpeed, Grand Am, Toyota MR2 and Lotus Elise. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K
gianspi
I was told this was the last year at Devens. Next year the state is remodeling it and will actually use it. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Just this past event on 9/24 people were saying that BMWCCA is confirmed to run at Devens next year as well. The preliminary events schedule was about to be done around this time already. 2010 is unknown, as rumors about remodeling the site are alive. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K

Garandman
No discussion of closing next year. It was raining in the morning so they set a fairly open but short (0.9 mi) course). It dried by noon so the times went down and the more powerful cars ran away from the more balanced cars that had done better in the first runs. FTD was the supercharged Miata shown above at 64.9. Fastest car on road tires was an Evo at 69.1. Fastest Subaru raw time was a WRX at 72.8. My fastest time was an 81.7 but I missed a gate and was DNF on that run. I was hoping to beat an Audi RS4 but he had one raw time of 78.3. 109 of the 424 runs made were DNF's, an unusually large number. Garandman
VVG, what if any mods do you have ? And what class were you running ? The only classes they have are race tires, Experienced, and Novice. My car is stock other than coilovers. This is my second autocross in 30 years (in other words, I was competing before most of this group of competitors was born) but as I competed a lot back then, ran in the Experienced class. When I competed then, you were a Novice until you won a Novice trophy. Here are the finishing positions and the fastest raw time. I recorded only the fastest raw time because so many people went off course, and the conditions varied from fog and drizzle to bright sun, depending on when you ran. Next year I'm going to ask an instructor or two to make a run in my car, since there's nothing to compare it to. I usually take my last motorcycle trips in October so probably won't go to any BMWCCA events. Some of the Novice times follow. Some of these folks have been competing regularly for two years (I was told) but are still competing as Novices. Their times overlap or beat many of the “Experienced” class, so there may be a registration problem as well. This is a pretty casual event in that you are pretty much competing against yourself: many of the cars are heavily modified, but the mods are not shown. For example, there was a supercharged Miata, MR2, and Chevy Cavalier: all way faster than any others you've ever seen. 1 Condict, Michael 03 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII 69.100 2 Condict, Theresa 2008 Mitsubishi Evo VIII 69.444+dnf 3 Stimpson, Mark 2005 Corvette 68.527+3 4 Levchuk, Michael 2001 Honda S2000 71.519 5 Masciarelli, Lou 1987 Mustang 71.741 6 Frankhauser, Jeremie 2007 Scion tc [supercharged] 75.028 7 Prokosh, Jason 2002 Mustang GT 72.786 8 Barros, Nuno Toyota MR2 72.864 9 Bayliss, Frank 2004 Pontiac GTO 71.986+1 10 Williams, Gavin WRX 71.672+2 11 Berthier, Emily 2007 Subaru WRX 72.063+1 12 Macek, Krystian 2004 BMW M3 74.224 13 Souza, Frank 1993 Toyota MR2 75.896 14 Wendell, Karen 03 Cobra 77.901 15 Skeels, Doyle F150 Lightning 78.731 117 Rashidifard, Christopher 1990 BMW 325is 79.098 17 Parker, Gary 1963 Ford Cobra 79.159+1 18 Seero, Dana 2006 Subaru Outback Wagon 81.727+dnf 19 Carrabba, Peter 1970 Corvette 83.450+dnf 20 Marquis, Craig 1995 Corvette 88.465+dnf ####### Novice 1 Darmofal, Marc 2007 Corvette 69.896 2 Kelley, Susan 2007 Porsche 997 CS2 72.549 3 Rosiu, Enric 2002 Volkswagen GTi 75.784 (something special under the hood, for sure) 4 Cuff, Jesse 2007 Subaru STi 75.890 5 Fakharzadeh, Mark 2004 Subaru WRX 76.825 6 Macek, Chris 2005 Mitsubishi EVO 77.018 7 Torre, Brent 1998 Porsche Boxster 77.124 8 Kanter, Gary 2002 Subaru STi 77.576 9 MacDonald, John 2004 Mustang Mach 1 77.696 10 Briggs, Jonathan 2007 Subaru WRX STI 78.394 Who Dares Wins スバル
SubOperator
Thanks VVG. To my defense, I could read well and count to 1000 already by the time you ran your first AutoX But the classification system you're describing is ...hmm-m-m-... weird. Susan running as Novice ??? That Porsche probably has just brake mods work done that costs more than current resale value of my 05 LGT As far as BMWCCA events go ,there is only one event left for the season - Oct 12. Hope you'll be able to make it next year. And I just found that I have to replace both front sway bar bushings and I guess my left side front shock is leaking (it's wet from the top). No time to replace the shocks but bushings will be replaced this weekend along with new Redline going into MT and rear diff. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K

It's amazing difference from stock(mine). There were also a few STis this time. There was also an Audi Avant with two guys - I really want to see what times they got.
